Video: Contrary To Media And SLASA Claim, Ranjan Was Soft

A new video contradicts the claim that Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake verbally abused the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary.

Broadcasting a distorted version of an event, a section of media had accused that Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake verbally abused the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary in public recently.

However, a new video, which recorded the full conversation, raises questions over the claims made by them, has grossly understated what the first video in fact demonstrated.

Followed by protests staged in a number of divisional secretariats in the Gampaha District against Ranjan Ramanayake, officials of the Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association (SLASA) and the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary yesterday met President Maithripala Sirisena over the incident where Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake had allegedly used strong language against the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary.

Issuing a statement, the SLASA said the President had assured to inform the Deputy Minister personally to withdraw his statements. “The President claimed the incident should not have happened and the deputy minister was at fault. He also expressed his apology. If Deputy Minister Ramanayake continues to be adamant, our executive committee, which will meet up on Friday, will decide what future action should be taken,” SLASA Secretary Sunil Galagama said.

However, Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake said yesterday that he had not done anything wrong and therefore, he would not apologise to the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary.

Broadcasters’ guidelines such as BBC editorial guidelines said: “We should ensure that any digital manipulation, including the use of CGI or other production techniques to create scenes or characters, does not distort the meaning of events, alter the impact of genuine material or otherwise seriously mislead our audiences.”

Ranja is the yahapalana version of Mervin Silva. Funny part is, the very same crowd, went up side down against Mervin when he did his number, keep praising Ranja now.

In a sense, Gampaha is the worst, when it comes to political immaturity in public voting. First, they elected a opera girl as their representative in highest preferential votes and now, a cardboard hero called Ranjan Ramanayake. So, one can argue, people in Gampaha deserve this kind of drama, in the name of politics.

Hey, get the facts baby boy who has always been only biased to a group of thugs but not sensing the least.

Yahapala or Ayahapalana – if anyone has gone beyond all the limits be it interms of digging the soils or sand – abusing the people funds as your God father et all did from the day one and stay speechless or make every effort to scrach his anus when questions are raised – what is common to everyone should be to work going through a compliance. This particular woman shamelessly attacked the minister- was heard to the gathering on that moment, that she is beyond all professional levels.
I think the kind of women or men should be interdicted and be subjected to investigations how the woman may have built houses no second to that of the palace of the uneducated parliament MP-the current day viagra tester- WimalWeerawanse ? People have every right to kknow how these men and women abused people s funds. Those assets collected illegally should be confistacted and auctioned as is being done today with the palace earlier belong to Basil Pal hora by name 50%. My thanks go to Mr Ramanayake for his brave acts, we will join together for any kind of fearless acts, not necessarliy wanting to part of the parties.

max is the animal version of human. It is dumb, deaf and blind. This animal lives in abandoned cesspits and seldom does it come out and see the daylight. It’s summum bonum of life is to sniff the discarded panties of girlies and this makes the bugger more and more odour-blind! It uses cardboards to wipe out the serums he ejects when it sniffs girlie underpants. The people of Gampaha do not deserve this type of animals in their area hence they must take immediate steps to cage the fucker and bury under Meethotamulla garbage pile.

      Very well said max!

This is the curse of SL politics. When one MP does bad or dastardly things, his voters hail him while opposing voters assail him. Ranjan is the new Mervin and Duminda. His blind supporters don’t see it.

You are spot on Gampaha. Other examples include Basil, Opera girl’s brother. Shame on blind politician supporters. Plenty!

True. We miss the Grand Old Man of this forum.

CT Forum has no sunshine, when NV has gone away.

Bring back those words of wisdom, infused with a healthy dose of humour & sarcasm. Always well-meaning. True “PATRIOT”, a word NV profoundly, but understandably dislikes.

Nation will NOT accept an abrupt, un-announced resignation or retirement by NV. He cannot let this stupid Island, full of bloody idiots down in this manner.

        Cheers!

Kudos to Sirisena for being judgemental and stating Ranjan was at fault. This imbecile is talking through his rear end to safe guard his weak coalition so that he still walks the face of the earth. Where was his morals, if he has any left when his thug of a son went berserk on several instances?

Sirisena have you heard the saying, people in glass houses must not throw stones?

I second Ranjan for President. Ranil – get out of the way.

      Srilanka’s last hoorah! Disgusting!

No wonder Srilanka is like this. MPs are threatening government officials, do street fighting, etc.

And there are those who praise them.

If this happened in a civilized country, this thug is now behind bars along with Mervin Silva.

A lawless country cheering more lawlessness.

I think it human Ranjan to have lost his control in that phone conversation, however the female secretary cut the call then only Ranjan yelled at her also putting the blame to have abused the rules and regulartion in term of digging the soils in the affected area.

I believe – not a big appology should be made here, if the reports on the issue clearly say- that the particular secretary with her henchman have made a big damage to the entire area. The female secretary should be punished by lanken legal system, then only the rest would ever learn to work compliant to the prevailing regulations.
Besides, her absence at the place on that day- not reacting to people s protest marches is highly unprofssionals. There are enough university pass out canddiates today seeking the jobs, they should be given the chances removing the kind of provably abusive charactors. No matter the gender, so long they have abusd the funds and properties which belong to the people of area – this way – should be brought before the court investigations. This has nothign to do with ruling or previous politics, it is just obey and respect the law and order. If the authoriteis do their job in compliance with the guidelines only, should be protected by the people. ELse, they should be labelled as criminals. Basta.

DRO (1939 – 1963) Man for All Seasons
      July 20, 2013, 7:03 pm
(By L. M. Samarasinghe, Dhammika Amarasinghe & Jayatissa Bandaragoda)

      A Critical Appraisal

      By K. H. J. Wijayadasa
      “…..
Another common factor between the Ceylon Civil Service and the DRO Service which stood in good stead for new entrants to both services was the two years of multifaceted induction training imparted; both theoretical and practical. The role of the DRO as stated in the reminiscences of DRO’s was an “all purpose oil”. Personally for me as Government Agent of Ampara, Polonnaruwa and Kegalle the DRO was a man for all seasons and the all important cog in the wheel of divisional administration. The DRO was always in the battle front whether it be floods, droughts, festivals, elections or epidemics. He was called upon to play the lead role in the distribution of rationed items, food aid, social assistance, fertilizer and even irrigation water. Thus the comprehensive training programme for DRO’s which was much more rigorous than for CCS Cadets included office administration, Police work, Surveying, Valuation, Social Services, Malaria Control, First Aid, Agriculture, Irrigation, Co-operative work, Court work and Social Welfare to name a few. Many of the DRO’s have acknowledged not only the value of the training but also the self confidence and moral courage it gave them to do what is right while withstanding the mounting political pressures, interferences and intimidation.”

If this was a gimmick played by some officials they should be penalised severely for misleading the President, P.M. and the public.

Well, Mr. Ramanayke is first a citizen of this country, secondly he is a member of parliament, he should know that whole public service is corrupt and nothing can be salvaged now. We need to send everyone home! About 7% are public servants of the whole population(including infants). How is this country going to service?

The full video footage reveals what some media has portrayed was a distorted version of the whole episode for reasons best known to them. Shamefully the Sri Lanka Administrative service officials in a deputation made had blatantly and tomfoolery manner misled the President of the country and made him to make a statement on the issue believing what the state offices have informed him. Now it is revealed what really happened was absolutely the opposite. It is a serious misconduct and a wrongdoing for state offices of the administrative service to misinform and deceive the President of the country. This shows the caliber and indignity of state offices whose salaries and perks are being met by the public. As the mischief of these offices had been caught red-handed the offices who are responsible should make an apology to the President for the willfully deception and the President taking serious note of the gravity of the matter should take a disciplinary action from those responsible for the misinformation and the false account of the matter and from those responsible for failure to take action for the written complaints on the wrongdoing.

Ranjans in the end spoke angrily. What he said to the AGA was ” Do you stay idle if a someone hit you in the face (homba).” He did not threaten the AGA at all but his tone was bad for about 1 minute of the 15 Min conversation. Govt staff union is wrong to support a AGA who at best did nothing to stop a carnage by these cuprits. At worse she seem to have facilitated the carnage.

I want to puke every time this dude comes on TV.

But he is a National treasure for a future UNP Hall of Fame ,along side Batalanada Ranil, Galleon Ravi , Singapore Mahendran and of course Malik, Aloysious, Samare and Sergent Schulz.

Ranjan is a people’s man. He looks into the problems of people much deeper than most MPs. He does not misdirect voters with false promises. He is the only MP who refused to accept the increased allowances given to MP’s telling that ordinary people are in a worst situation. It was a technical knock out to Ranil too. He should have not alleged in public the supposed Bribe taking of the Divisional Secy. He can make a complaint to the Bribery Commission, with a request to refer the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities of the said secy These take decades to complete. Ranjan appears to have taken the easiest weapon, the verbal attack. However President should order to check the Assets and liabilities declaration of the Div.Secy. On the other hand the Div.Secy can complain to the Police against Ranjan.

Ranjan is not clamouring for a Cabinet Post like others. People know he cannot be bought for money for cross over. UNP survived due to few MPs like Ranjan.

    Sunil Galagama,

“If Deputy Minister Ramanayake continues to be adamant, our executive committee, which will meet up on Friday, will decide what future action should be taken,” SLASA Secretary Sunil Galagama said.”

I hope that you are talking about action against a DS who apparently has not done her job properly.

Is she going to stop the sand mining or not?

Where to complain about the lethargy and possible corruption of the DS? Presidential Secretariat?

The main problem is the illegal sand mining not how RR behaved.

Any headman must listen stories of the complainant and his enemies before giving opinion or verdict to pacify the one who come first. One great emporer once said don’t come to decision when a man with injured one and complain. Sometimes other man may come later with both eyes injured. We see the same situation and opinions.- A thinking bro.

    Sunil Galagama,

Are you sure that you are backing the correct person?? What have you decided to do? Are not all your union members obliged to upheld the law?

According to media sand mining has been stopped by the Presidential Secretariat because it was discovered that too much sand has been taken.

Why did the DS not notice that the permit was exceeded by 10 times despite public protests?

Did she ever pass the public complaints to other authorities?

    http://www.dailymirror.lk/article/-Ranjan-complains-to-BC-against-Div-Sec–123311.html

“Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake has complained to the Bribery Commission (BC) against the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretary with whom he was at loggerheads recently.”

    Good!

“She and others who supported her are the ones who should apologise because it has now been proved that she and the others were involved in a fraud. The removal of GSMB officer is clear evidence that a fraud had taken place during sand mining.”

    Yes!

“Soil mining at the controversial Akaragama site in Divulapitiya has come to a halt following a presidential directive.”

    Finally.

“Mining activities were suspended after Presidential Secretariat officials visited the site for inspection on Wednesday.”

It should be easy to find a hole 10 m deep.

    President,

Thank you for your action. Please transfer the DS urgently so that this matter can be investigated in peace. The population of the area has no confidence in her anyway.

Kindly investigate what the District Secretary has known, should have known and should have done regarding the sand mining.

    Thank you.

    Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake,

Thank you again for your actions.

You have filed a RTI request to obtain information on the sand mining and made a complaint about the DS at the FCID.

    http://www.sundaytimes.lk/170205/news/sons-of-divulapitiya-soil-rise-against-environment-sins-227223.html

    http://www.sundaytimes.lk/170205/columns/rambo-ranjan-gets-mauled-for-exposing-soil-mining-scandal-227180.html

“He named the SLFP MP responsible who in collusion with a UNP member and another had perpetrated the fraud. Having obtained a permit to mine only 500 cubic feet per month, Ramanayake alleged that they had mined thousands more; allowed only to cut one metre of the dune, they had cut more than ten metres. He declared, “I am not afraid of them, if they come to act like thugs, I will meet them as a thug”.

Obtain their asset declarations. It is now free of charge and the information can be disclosed as long as you use the RTI to obtain the information.

I do not agree with the actions of the Deputy Minister. He should understand that there is somthing called dignity of office. Be it a labourer or the President of the country. These norms are violated only by the ignorant and we have a majority of them in our country.
I think even people with good intentions regularly make this mistake.Going back to the subject all RR did was to let the Divisional Secy get off by the hook as it is evident that she has been either not doing her job properly! most likly she was also involved in this racket. To be fair I see this type of vanderlisom all over this country!
