Watch the humility and intelligently erudite speech. Anura Kumara Dissanayake is so unlike previous presidents. His humility and sincerity shine through. The NPP came to power in a very different way to how previous governments came to power. For many decades, the competitors in the same ideological camp would put on a colour or symbol and have a match to see who wins. The winners as well as losers go back to eating the cake given by the fooled voters. Yes, they spend billions on elections campaigns and expect to get returns of at least several time the investment, into their families’ and friends’ pockets each time. That was the game. Now it is not a game at all. The people who will be contesting from the NPP are not opportunists, but people seriously committed and dedicated to uplifting our motherland from the ruins of sustained rape and pillage. The people must place complete faith in these people, who will ensure that at least future generations will be able to live a dignified and healthy life in our resplendent isle in the sun. There is a cultural revolution quietly taking place at the same time as the economic revival. Do support this effort with all your strength.

          SJ,
          .
Unfortunately the common virtue of our people (srilanken genetics). Entire society is gone to astray. Their public verbal expression in sinhala and tamil are far from decencies.
          .
They just dont care about factful information.

Only way out would be similar to a total blood transfusion. Those who dreamt of “AKD’s wonder making within a short period” tend to state something totally different today.

Their crying audience is also tolerating the behaviours. JVPrs are now sounding to be matured since they are now in ruling politics. Latter is something in favour of the general public.

Ruchira: I suspect you are attempting to remind that Falk story I learned in my elementary class……..

“The Fox and the Sour Grapes”.

rtf – read Dr. W. A. Wijewardena’s latest article and my comment there. AKD has sold himself off to Basil and Jaishankar.

hmmm…..not sure….maybe he just needs to get some leverage you know….needs to get back Basil’s “invested’ monies…..nothing wrong with working with India a bit as long as there is no land-bridge.

              Rtf,
              .
U were then a blind worshipper of Rajapakses.
              .
Then u started supporting 89-92 murderers aka JVPrs. .
              .
Now u the kind of easy prey are speechless [sarama kadan wetila- fully naked] because AKD deyyo has no other options but to continue where Mr Wickremesinghe stopped. 🤔.
              .
I think it s worth reading what R has to say about AKD s betrayal as of today. .
As for me, we remain as before- Akd s election is similar to ” cutting the nose being angered with the face”.
              .
I see the light at the end of tunnel in the formation of ARAGALAYA 2. May our folk be blessed with 🧠!!!!

No, huge differences between all three.

Rajapaksas had a good heart for the poor, didn’t even dream of a land-bridge, but turned not too bright for monetary policy and did major offshore investments that should have matured in 4 years time….didn’t work.

Wickramasinghe was for taxing the poor, pampering the rich, and building the land-bridge.

Wickramasinghe knew that Rajapaksa investments would only mature by 2048, and used it as a huge unpatriotic excuse for the land-bridge and India merge.

Dissanayake knows that he can get back those investments even a loss, and will use every means possible. Right now it’s the soft means.

                  RTF,
“Wickramasinghe was for taxing the poor, pampering the rich, and building the land-bridge.”

                  Why do you say this?
May I know if you suffer from any kind of mental disorder?
                  .
In the last 3 weeks since the AKD election, those taxes continue. Gota, in fact reduced the taxes immediately he grabed power.
If according to AKD erything is allowed to do so why could he not reduce it? WONDER MAKING MEN SHOULD MAKE WONDERS AND SURPRISE THE VOTERS… is not that so ?

No! Huge difference between all three, I mean.

Yes, finally the people can realize their true selves as Lankans without the shame and fear of not running after political and social pressures. So glad our Motherland finally has a true son of the soil who can uplift us this way. I believe that even the Elite have realized the need for simplicity and honor.

“The people must place complete faith in these people, who will ensure that at least future generations will be able to live a dignified and healthy life in our resplendent isle in the sun. “
The people need not to place complete faith in these people but people should realise that the previous family run businesses of politics did bad to the country and people. The people have to have some faith in the change and give their support to their positive changes and raise the voice against the negative changes. People cannot expect that every change should come now but the direction should not change the path.

Let us give the NPP and President AKD a chance, as it is very well deserved.
President AKD has the ability to multi-task and work very fast too, unlike many of the previous incumbents who were able to focus on only one thing at a time and move at a snail’s pace.
The only time they moved fast was when they went on foreign jaunts.

One of the key issues atm for sri lanka is, its failed economy, and negotiations with the IMF is pivotal in adddressing the same.
    .
One of the key promises the AKD made during his run up to the Presidential Elections to distinguish himself from the plethora of other candidates is that they would renegotiate with the IMF.
    .
Not even a month has passed since AKD was sworn in, he has already broken one of his major promises.
    .
He is either incapable of delivering what he promised OR he deliberately misled the electorate.
    .
How many such false promises would he make along with the NPP during their run up to the next month’s Parliamentary Elections?

Good speech. If Anura’s fellow comrades take his words to heart and act accordingly the country should do well.
However, his words to the effect that “when they (their political opponents) go low, they go high” to me still ring hollow in view of their religiously commemorating the two past violent insurrections of the JVP annually, which are the antithesis of the lofty ideals expressed by him.
I don’t see why the new JVP can’t make a complete break with their bloody past by putting a stop to these commemorations. I would say that at most 3% of those who voted for them (the hardcore base) approve of the insurrections. The rest, the 40 odd percent, voted for them IN SPITE OF their violent past.

Correction: It should be “When they go low, we go high.”

Books RW has read and the books AKD has read and how what they learnt
has been interpreted to the general public is being made crystal clear .
Flawless , AKD’s approach . He takes great pain to educate the general public
before asking for their approval . And the old order was hell bent in fooling the
public at the highest level possible . For them , the general public is nothing but
Nuts . Not only AKD , his whole team has respect for the public in their own ways
and collectively . I have bad and frustrating experience with two of their frontline
guys but I feel I should forget and ignore it . They might surely make mistakes but
they deserve a chance to try their skills with confidence . After all , they sound
better and that is why RW walked away peacefully .

The most noteworthy in AKD’s address to the nominees of NPP is……

“We need the numbers in Parliament, but remember those numbers must be QUALITATIVE and ready to SERVE the people.”

All this while, there were “NUMBERS” but the majority were “SIGNAL POSTS”.
