The Government wants to hide the real mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said, slamming President Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa for failing to make a report by the Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday bombings in 2019 public.
There were two things that the people need to know about the Easter bombings, Dissanayake told a National People’s Power meeting. The first was who was responsible for not preventing the terror attack when it had warning of it. “The second question is who was the real leader of the suicide bombers – who did they answer to?” he demanded.

The JVP leader said President Nandasena and his government wanted to conceal the real masterminds behind the Easter Sunday Attacks. The easiest way to figure that out was the old village way, Dissanayake explained.
“In the village, if the cops want to catch the person who has set up a gun wire trap to hunt in the jungle, they can’t do that by studying what the trap looks like. They must look for the person who carries the hunted prey on his shoulders,” he said.
“If the Easter attacks were a hunt, let’s try to figure out who carried the prey on his shoulders for the past one and half years after the bombings. Who used the bombings for an entire election campaign and used them to turn politics upside down in the country? Who carried the Easter attacks on his shoulders?” he demanded.
Dissanayake insisted that the people had a right to know what was in the Easter Sunday Commission report. Those who had been appointed to study the commission report, including Johnston Fernando and Rohitha Abeygunawardhana were only good to make sure pieces of the report disappeared, he added.
“It’s one thing if this report was about the Rajapaksa family property or something. If that were the case, the people don’t need to know about it and the brothers and uncles can sort it out between themselves. But this report on the Easter Sunday bombings concerns public security – the people have a sacred right to know what its contents are,” Dissanayake charged. (By Chinthika De Silva)

The first thing that came to my mind when I read the decisions of the commission was…there is nothing mentioned in the report re: Gotabaya paying Saharan during Mahinda Rajapakse’s time.
When this important factor was not investigated, although I agree with all the decisions of the commission, I feel that there had been some coverup by the commission.
I am also not sure if the commission investigated Namal Kumara, if not then there has been this coverup as well.

I fully agree with you that the purpose of this Easter Bombing is to bring Gota into power for the following reasons:
* It was not targeted against military or Buddhists or Muslims or politicians. The target was Tamil and Sinhala Christians and westerners.
* There was not a single shot from the attackers other than suicide bombing be fore or after bombing.
* Timing of the bombing and nomination of Gota for presidency are closely associated.
* the military and police intelligence services were well aware of this attack and allowed that to happen.

You might get a bit closer to the truth if you replaced Mosad with Chinese intelligence. The previous government was set-up with backing from the USA and India. Mosad being Israeli could not have played a role in under mining that government. Israel does not act unless it sees some benefit for itself or it acts as proxy to the USA. Here we go again. I said it last year and I say it again: The Easter bombing plot was conceived and executed by the group of Islamic terroritsts led Zahran, who took their religion seriously and acted on their understanding of its teachings. Your simplisitic explanation does not hold for many reasons. First of all an e-mail was intercepted where one of Zaharans group begged ISIS who had no idea about this bombing to claim ownership of it. Days after the fact ISIS put out some sort of statement alluding to this bombing as one of theirs. This was totally uncharacteristic behavior for ISIS and considered dubious. We also know that these fellows were on the military intelligence pay-role when Nande was SOD. We also caugth a glimpse of truth when Zaharan’s wife admitted that this source of funding continued even after the fall of the previous Rajapakshe government. We also know Sirisena is definitely involved by his own actions and inactions such as arresting DIG Nalaka Silva who was hot on the trail of Zaharan on frivolous charges. So did Sira do this alone. If so what was his motive?

Gota has accepted that Saharan was funded by the Govt when he was the Secretary of Defense.
