“Wake Up Arabs! Shame On You”

By Ameer Ali

Dr. Ameer Ali

The above title was the expression of anger soaked in tears from a Palestinian mother who lost her husband and children in the resumed Israeli aerial attack on Gaza. The Qatari mediated cease which took effect on January 19 and lasted for 42 days with Hamas releasing 33 hostages in return for 1800 Palestinian prisoners only helped to aggravate domestic criticism against Netanyahu’s Government. His failure to bring home all the hostages showed to Israeli citizens that Hamas is not a spent force even with all the threats and deadlines issued by President Donald Trump. It was this frustration and internal criticism more than anything else that prompted Netanyahu to break the cease fire unilaterally but in consultation with Trump. But there was also another reason for Netanyahu to break the cease fire and that was to welcome into his cabinet the three former far right ministers Amichai Eliyahu, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Yitzhak Vassirulov, all of whom resigned in disgust earlier against that cease fire. Finally, Donald Trump’s attack on Yemen gave the green light for Netanyahu to resume the mission and continue the ethnic cleansing (Nakba) of Gaza.

In fact, this resumption of ethnic cleansing which started in response to Hamas’ rocket attacks on 7 October 2023, was meant to complete a program designed and advocated more than seventy-five years ago by Israel’s founding fathers. As the Jewish historian Ilan Pappe points out, for Palestinians 29 November 1947 – the day when UN General Assembly voted for that infamous Resolution 181 to partition Palestine – was the day when Nakba began. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were chased out of their villages and homes to seek refuge in neighbouring Arab countries. “By the end of 1948” according to Pappe, “half of Palestine’s Arab population had been expelled, more than 500 villages were destroyed and most of its towns and cities had been demolished”. The expelled Palestinians from the east were pushed into the occupied West Bank and Transjordan, those from the north into Syria and Lebanon and the ones from the south were cramped into the current theatre of action – Gaza Strip, a huge refugee camp.

Despite the post-October 2023 Gaza genocide Hamas resistance has not been weakened although it had lost a few of its prominent fighters. In a sense, Netanyahu lost his original mission and therefore the resumption now. That bombing has consumed the lives of more than 500 Gazans so far, and the number is set to increase. As before, a fair proportion of the victims were once again children and women, and once again hunger and starvation are being used as weapons to continue the genocide. Although the West may consider these casualties as unavoidable collaterals, to Netanyahu on the other hand they are part of a methodically laid out program to get rid of the Palestinians from Gaza by any means so that the same experiment could be repeated in Occupied Westbank or Judaea and Samaira in Zionist parlance. The end game is to establish Israel’s Jewish sovereignty from the “River (Jordan) to the (Mediterranean) Sea.

However, those angry words of that Palestinian mother quoted above might as well be rephrased as “Wake up Muslims! Shame on you”. Almost one quarter of world population today are Muslims and almost three quarters of them are living as majority in 49 countries. Yet their power and influence in the world arena is virtually zilch.  Herein lies the crux of the problem that bedevils the sorry tale of Palestine today. Brevity prevents a long discussion of the reasons for this tragedy. Perhaps Bernard Lewis’ What Went Wrong? (2002) and Robert R. Reilly’s The Closing of the Muslim Mind (2011) may provide part of the answer. However, at least the Arab sector of the Muslim world had a chance to wake up during the last quarter of the previous century when they were showered with unimaginable riches via petrodollars. And the Iranian Islamic Revolution which got rid of a ruthless despot cum American lacky should have triggered an era of intellectual and scientific renaissance with political modernity. Alas! On the contrary those riches only ended up in recreating the Arabian Nights for the modern Caliphs to enjoy their life and bask under the shade of US protection. Poor Palestinians are paying the price at the hands of Israel for this deliberate neglect and missed opportunity.

While Palestinians are struggling and dying in search of freedom and independence from more than half a century of Israel’s oppression and apartheid, Arab regimes are shamelessly looking for normalising relations with Israel. The Abraham Accord initiated by Donald Trump during his first term in office is nothing but a sellout of the cause pf Palestine.

Having rejected in fear of public anger Trump’s plan to rebuild Gaza with no Palestinians living there and converting it into a Riviera only to be handed back to Eretz Israel eventually, the Arab duo Egypt and Jordan with approval from an inconsequential Arab League has come out with an alternative plan to rebuild the same with Palestinians in it and at a cost of $53 billion. Once again, these Arab leaders are harping the same hackneyed tune of a two-state solution, which neither Israel nor world Zionists and not even the Christian Evangelists who together control US politics, economy and other commanding heights reject.  Already with the resumption of bombing and ground attack Israel has ignored the Arab alternative and recaptured the Netzarim Corridor which divides Gaza into North and South, and from which Israel withdrew earlier as part of the cease fire deal. The reoccupation of that corridor is expected to follow soon by an order for Palestinians to evacuate that area.

In the light of these developments the Egyptian alternative plan would remain a futile exercise. So long as the Arab world remains unwilling to invest in modern scientific research and build its own indigenously produced military arsenal to counter the might of US-backed Israel the eventual takeover of Judaea and Samaria is only a matter of time. It is that unwillingness that bedevils Arab weakness and subservience despite the petrodollar bonanza. Haven’t they heard of the proverb in sports “attack is the best form of defence” which historically has military origins?

It is true that the UN International Court of Justice declared in July 2024 that Israel’s occupation of Palestine was illegal and urged UN member countries to consider their relations with Israel in the light of that declaration. But US State Department immediately countered that “the breadth of the court’s opinion will complicate efforts to resolve the conflict”. What efforts have they taken to solve it so far?

The Palestinian issue is an unfortunate consequence of the historic neglect by Arab countries in the name of their own self-interest.  It is that same self-interest which again underpins the Arab duo’s counterplan to rebuild Gaza without prioritising the issue of freedom and independence. No occupier is going to grant freedom to the occupied voluntarily. It should be fought and won. Hence, the agonising cry of that Palestinian mother.

        Hello Rajash,
With the Veto at the UN Security Council the US Policy will prevail. You will find that in many Countries the Majority of people do not support the Israeli/US actions in Gaza and the West Bank. How would a Country of 7 Million Jewish people (some of which do not support their Government) be able to carry out this Genocide without US/Western Support. The Arab League Countries are completely Impotent. Pakistan is about the only Muslim Country that could make a difference, but they have their own problems.

” It should be fought and won. Hence, the agonising cry of that Palestinian mother. “
Dr. Ammer Ali ‘s cry is limited to the cry of Muslim mother but not about the cry of oppressed mother. His call is for Muslims and Muslim countries. In other words for him Religion is more important than humanity. Why he did not ask the support of super powers Russia or China which are the other two countries with nuclear power. Dr. Ameer Ali should come out of Religious Fundamentalism. Religion should not be in politics. This is applicable to Sri Lanka and Muslims.

… that prompted Netanyahu to break the cease fire unilaterally but in consultation with Trump.
I have stated previously that anything in Israel is directly connected to the US. Now, more so with Trump at the helm. Of the two, who is more cruel, Trump or Netanyahu? Affirmatively, Netanyahu.

After Joe Biden, Donald Trump is the second disgraceful American President, whose hands are soaked with the blood of starving Palestinian children, women and sick people. Under his watch, Netanyahu closed all routes for humanitarian aid in Gaza and then targetted starving children, women and even embryos and bombed hospitals killing hundreds of Palestinians, again.
It is Netanyahu who unilaterally violated the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed the genocide in Gaza. It is he who should return to the negotiating table if he genuinely wanted to bring hostages home. Maybe he is not happy that they are still alive because only dead hostages bring him glory, not the living ones.
In the meantime, Canada has pledged $100 million in humanitarian aid for Palestinias in Gaza and the West Bank. Have they done this before or is there a policy shift in the government under the new Prime Minister, I am not sure. Whatever it is, I am happy that he doesn’t support the Gaza genocide.
War is a lucrative business for the US, Israel and Ukraine. Even dead bodies of war are a side business for some countries.

I wrote the following paragraph last week for another article. But, I couldn’t send it before it was closed for comments.
Donald Trump is not a peacemaker as claimed by him, he is rather a piecemaker. As apparent, so many countries are threatened by his modern day colonial imperialism. He is hell bent on annexing a foreign territory or territories to the United States. Currently, he is eyeing Panama Canal, Greenland, Canada, Gaza and Ukraine, all of which are rich in natural resources and/or vital for maritime trade.
Throughout world history, Western countries, desperate for resources, built their empires on the backbones and riches of the countries they colonized. Even after so much bloodshed in so many centuries, the greediness in imperialists have not changed, so much so they now even target their allies and partners.
Can Donald Trump be legally successful in his rapacious imperialism? Last week, I wrote the answer was NO. But, unfortunately, today I have to say the answer is YES. He can be successful in annexing far and near territories to the US. Last week, I may have taken Ukraine as an example. But, this week I have to take Canada as an example. Because,

Canada can be an easy annexation target for Donald Trump due to some betrayals. I see the danger is brewing rapidly.
Canadian media is still promoting divisive politics while sensible Canadians are worried about Donald Trump’s annexation threats and are uniting under one flag. For example, last week, one media person questioned Canada’s Prime Minister Mr. Mark Carney’s assets, a question he has already answered on a previous occasion. Then, another person asked whether he would refund the money he used to travel to Europe as an “unelected Prime Minister” which is a dumb question as his trip was an official trip representing Canada to rescue the Canadian economy from an imminent precarious situation.
As any sensible person can comprehend, there is a lot on Mr. Carney’s plate. It is not only about the economy. It is about loss of lives and livelihood, trade uncertainties and losses, closure of mega factories, and on top of that the possibility of losing/ceding territories that are crucial for Canada’s economy.
I think I am not too late in mentioning this, but there is a betrayal going on behind the Prime Minister’s back to sell off Canada. There are discussions going on in Washington DC to annex the Alberta Province, the Prime Minister’s hometown, to the US.

Alberta Premier has already spilled the beans about her betrayal. She has made 9 demands to the Federal Government and failing of which she has threatened to go for a Referendum to be a province independent from the Confederation.
As I understand, ceding Alberta to the US needs to go through a tedious process. First, it is the Referendum. Then, the House of Commons has to approve the results of the Referendum, if it is affirmative. Then, there should be an amendment to the Canadian Constitution to remove the Alberta Province from the Confederation which has to be done in consultation with the Governor General, the Prime Minister and Premiers of other Provinces. But, Alberta will still remain as a part of Canada and Albertians will be considered as Canadian citizens.
In order to cede Alberta to the United States, I believe, the “independent Alberta” needs the approval of King Charles III, as he is considered as Canada’s Head of State. Will he give his consent? Yes. He will. The betrayal has already begun. I first sensed this betrayal when Donald Trump lavishly praised Prince William, the next king, when they first met in Paris. Now, my suspicions are confirmed.

As reported by “The Sun”, King Charles III has “secretly” offered Commonwealth membership to the US. For what? Canada is a member of the Commonwealth. In order to accept Alberta as the 51st State of the US, the US government has to amend its constitution and also be a part of the Commonwealth. The US needs some kind of legitimate connection to the British monarchy without directly being under it. Am I overthinking? I wish to be proved wrong.
How could Canada overcome this double betrayal? Easy.
          1. Mr. Mark Carney is on the right path by his plan to call for Federal Elections in late April. He should use the election platform to rally Canadians under one flag to defeat Donald Trump’s annexation threat which is very real.
2.The Prime Minister need not to believe what I said, but can do his own research and if found out true, he can even expose Alberta Premier’s betrayal, (maybe diplomatically).
          3. Canadians have a right to know the truth of how vulnerable their beloved country would be in a few months due to one woman’s betrayal.

            4. It is imperative that the Liberal Party under Mr. Carney’s strong leadership received an overwhelming majority in Parliament to protect Canada’s sovereignty. As I said one day, Mr. Carney is God-sent to Canada. Only he can save the country.
            5. Suppose, if the Alberta Premier won the Referendum and wanted to be independent, the Prime Minister and other Premiers can always reject a constitutional amendment to separate Alberta from the Confederation, citing bad faith. However, entering to this last stage is too risky, as by this time, Alberta will have the backing of the US and Donald Trump can threaten Canada with you-know-what and even persuade King Charles III to force a constitutional amendment.
            6. The only legal way to avoid both internal and external threats to Canada’s sovereignty is to, well, maybe I should withhold my suggestion for the time being for obvious reasons.
Canada is a sovereign country protected by international laws and a beautiful country which is home to the most polite, the friendliest, good, kind and empathetic people. Alberta Province does not belong to Albertians exclusively. It belongs to all Canadians. I wish Prime Minister Mr. Mark Carney and other Canadian patriots all the very best in their bid to protect their country.

Have you heard the expression “down the Rabbit Hole”?
” maybe I should withhold my suggestion for the time being for obvious reasons”.
Do you really think that something you say in the Comments Section of Colombo Telegraph will have the slightest affect on the US/Canada disputes?
King Charle III is a man who talks to plants. Apart from that Charles does not make Laws in the UK Parliament does.

Have you ever heard the expression “the pen is mightier than the sword”?
For your information, the Commonwealth is an association where King Charles III is the Head. He doesn’t need Parliamentary approval to absorb any country to the Commonwealth. The issue is, why has he offered the US the associate membership of the Commonwealth covertly? The Commonwealth does not have any significance to the US or the world. Why does the US need to be a part of it? I am pretty sure it has something to do with Donald Trump’s aggressive desire to annex Canada.
Canada’s federal election is scheduled for April 28. Some external elements may not like Canada to be led by a strong leader like Mark Carney. I hope Canada’s national security agency keeps its eyes wide open in the run up to the election. Then, there is a major security breach involving Donald Trump’s closest and most trusted top officials. It is shocking. It shows that Donald Trump is not in control. No wonder he is alarmed by WWIII reports! Good luck to Donald Trump if it is the same blunderers who handle his personal security.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings decide who joins not Charles. If you can find a Document that says differently then I will change my mind https://thecommonwealth.org/about/joining
Apart from that this Clause below would prohibit Trump from joining –
“an applicant country must demonstrate commitment to: democracy and democratic processes, including free and fair elections and representative legislatures; the rule of law and independence of the judiciary; good governance, including a well-trained public service and transparent public accounts; and protection of human rights, freedom of expression, and equality of opportunity”.

You are wrong again. Donald Trump didn’t “apply” for the Commonwealth associate membership. It was a secret offer by King Charles III. Therefore, the point raised by you does not arise. The “secret reason” for that “strange offer” is what matters. When Donald Trump met with Prince William in Paris I even raised the possibility of the King agreeing to cede Canadian territories to the US. The person I spoke to said that it would never happen. Anyway, the unthinkable betrayal is actually happening, it seems. But, all is not lost for Canada.

It is too terrible to see what is happening in Gaza. How long as human beings in this day and age are we to see these medeival atrocities, but at far more heinous scales? Trump is ignoring this cause for humanity – at least Biden pretended towards it. Yes, we can only blame the selfish Arab countries, especially Saudi, for this. Silly Saudi is ever ready to work for the White Russian-Ukraine cause, but is too cowardly to do anything for their fellow Muslims. The continuous smirk on Nethanyahu’s face is hideous to see. The progressive Jews in US on the other hand are totally against the Israeli cruelty. We can only pray that these Jews have some effect on Trump’s policy. We pray that Trump honorably steps up, does the noble and common sense deed, and work for the suffering Palastinian people. Praying that he will work with the few Arabs who want to donate towards Gaza and the Palestinians, do his business dealings, and build it up accordingly as the 52nd state 🙏🙏🙏. He would have succeeded as the Global President then.

      Ramona,

It seems unfortunate to those of us in the West, but this is called “jihad” in Islam. A jihadi is a fatalist , meaning they have a death wish. It is written in their Holy Book that jihad leads to martyrdom. I have seen guests on Al Jazeera refer to Hamas members not as terrorists, but “martyrs.” Those who carried out 11-9 in NYC believed they would be rewarded with 72 virgins in “Paradise.” There have been many terrorists throughout history (IRA, FARC, etc.) but only the LTTE and these jihadis have indulged in actual full-fledged suicide bombing. Yes, all Palestinians deserve their freedom and Israel should go back 1967 borders. But this approach of “jihad” is not the correct methodology. It will just make Israel more aggressive, resulting in the eventual expulsion of Palestinians from both Gaza and the West Bank.

Lester,…..even Jihadists know that Jihad for the heck of it will place them straight into Jahannam. No, they have seen their people suffer the terrible genocide and displacement by the Israelis and seek retribution. They are not too bright however, and have fought the wrong kind of Jihad. They lack softer Jihad skills (as with controlling of oil prices as you said earlier) which would be far more effective. It’s not too late for them to evolve.

          Ramona,

Besides Hamas, the other problem is Netanyahu. He needs the war to continue to survive, politically. Trump received a lot of campaign money from Jewish billionaires (Adelson, Ackman, etc.), so he is giving Netanyahu a “free hand.” There is no single person that can stop BN besides Trump, but Trump’s Cabinet is made up of right-wing Evangelicals who are pro-Zionist. The other option is a binding resolution from the UNSC (United Nations Security Council) but China and Russia are not in the business of human rights. I don’t see a way out for the Palestinians. They will likely be forced to accept Trump’s “voluntary” migration plan, which likely will not be voluntary, rather, involve significant coercion. In an ideal world, the ISIS terrorists could be chased out of Syria and the Palestinians resettled there, with the option to visit Palestine on occasion.

              Hello Lester/Ramona,
40 years ago i was sitting watching a Film on a Dive Support Vessel in the Arabian/Persian Gulf called “Countdown to Looking Glass”
This was still the Cold War and the Film was about the Outbreak of Nuclear War between the Soviet Union and the USA over the Straits of Hormuz.
This was in the Middle of the Iran/Iraq War and for us not only quite scary but also quite plausible. We knew that the US was helping the Iraqis and. blaming Iran for attacking Tankers that we knew had been hit by the Iraqis.
Ever since 1979 the Americans have wanted revenge on Iran. Just as an aside, I stayed in the Hotel Verbois, outside Paris (2011) and saw the Room where the Ayatollah Khomeni stayed before occupying a small Cottage, where he organised the Revolution and his return from Exile.
George Galloway is not the Brahan Seer, he doesn’t foretell the future. He has got some things right and some wrong. I agree with some of his Politics, but we disagree over Putin (and Bashar Al Assad).
Some have predicted April 20th for the Attack on Iran.
              Best regards

Lester,…..Trump will be far more popular around the world if he gets Palestine for the Palestinians. He will create an enduring legacy for himself. He will be able to get much out of his tarrifs, annexs, and tithes of gratefulness (as in Ukranian’s minerals and Gaza Riviera for the Palestinians) as even Russia and China are for the Palestinian state. The Jewish billionaires can only spend their money towards more military assistance to secure their occupied state of Israel. If these don’t happen, it will be a perpetual hostility with the Arabs and Iranians. Trillions will be spent on the “Golden Dome” for America for protection from these hostile nations. So the creation of a Palestine state would be far more cheaper. And many Israelis and Jews around the world are for it.

              Ramona/Scott,

It looks like Israel will now occupy Gaza permanently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgHRImIev8k.

This just “makes sense” militarily. As soon as the IDF left Gaza, Hamas would rearm and launch rockets at Israel. A buffer is needed and that can come only with the full (Israeli) occupation of Gaza.

According to the video, Trump is demanding Egypt take in 500K-700K Palestinians or lose all US aid (free money).

It’s over for the Palestinians. They should have released all the hostages (without preconditions) while Biden was the President and got rid of Hamas.

              • 0
                0

Lester,……Well, it will be the worst possible scenario for the area and for the US. It might make sense militarily in the short term, but Hamas, with the help of the rest of the Islamic world, will certainly keep perpetually waging war on Israel in the event of Israel occupying Gaza.

Right now, Palestinians are declaring that they are against Hamas. They are looking forwards to a grand Palestinian Riveira on Gaza Strip and being the 52nd- 54th State of the USA……best possible solution for everyone.

As per West Bank and Golan Heights, Trump should put in the process for joint ownership – Israel, Palestine, and the USA. And since US has given so many trillions to Israel, Israel should become the 55th State.

Dtg,…..only reason they can’t seem to evolve is because the warring Europeans have destroyed their nations. From the Russians who first destroyed Afghanistan to the US who destroyed Iraq to the Israelis who destroyed Palestine, these Muslim nations only turned on themselves and others in sheer desperation and PTSD. These places were beautiful places before, with the exception of some limited hostility between tribal groups. They were far better than the Holocaust of the Jews, far better than the Russian Revolution, far better than the war in Kosavo, far better than the war between northern and southern Ireland, and far better than the war in Ukraine.

Lester/Ramona, we were not created to be martyred. Jesus came to earth to be martyred and crucified after taking on our karmic sins. We can therefore receive his act and be forgiven and at death, be in paradise until he comes again to Jerusalem and we be his army.

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

My last thoughts as I fell asleep in the early hours of the 18th (my b/day) were filled with hope for a restoration of the ceasefire and a refusal to believe that even Netanyahu must be horrified by so much blood on his hands.

Does my name seem Arab or Palestinian, Dtg?

My father was a freethinker so we were not christened but left to decide for ourselves. And as I was born in London, went to scripture classes in school, Church & Sunday School, I automatically thought of myself as a Christian. But wasnt christened until years later in the Peradeniya University Anglican church. However, a few years later, as my knowledge of the world grew, my faith began to crumble. And moved to agnosticism and ultimately atheism.

Man’s inhumanity to man, Dtg, is one reason I cant believe in a loving god. ‘God’s chosen people’

How nice and gentle they can be, but there is no solution to Hamas, Hezbollah, Hutíes, Iran…. You may escape, but some of us will have no choice but to sit down and stand up and keep shouting their chanting. If what Israel did was a mass murder, read some history of India’s Khan and Mohamed of Ghanzi and then tell me the English for those murders. Do you know Iraq is planning to open a few land and sea routes to Europe because they think their past routes were demolished by centuries of religious war and this is a suitable one to reopen some of them, They mean the Red Sea issue. They think that if they are successful, the Red path will eventually lose significance. Egypt already lost more than $7B in the drone attacks of Huties. So Irade wants to spend $30B on the first shot, so they can catch some market. In that condition other than someone like you never bothered to call a place yours, how the Muslim countries are going to support Palestine. Jordan has said that moving 3,000 Hams Jihadis very quickly out of Palestine can make the peace stable.

              Hello Manel,
DTG has threatened many times that OC, SJ, Chiv, Leelagemalli, myself and many others will burn in Hell. Biblical Absolutists like DTG hate Atheists. All that we ask of the Religious is to provide incontestable Evidence for the Existence of a God. They cannot do this and hiss and spit their Venom at us.
He can justify the Murder of 60,000 (and probably much more) Palestinians, 70 percent of them were Woman and Children, due to his undying belief that Jesus must return to an Undivided Jerusalem to save us all.
His mindset is pretty much that of Peter the Hermit (1st Crusade 1096) chanting “Deus lo vult” (God Wills It) as he processed round the Walls, when they massacred all in Jerusalem (Jews, Christians, Muslims and others) in July 1099.
There are two main ways to deal with DTG, Ignore him or call out his Nonsensical Utterances.
              Best Regards

                Hello LS,
                .
I work with a number of Palastenians living in Germany, some of whom are really good friends. Many of them have been refugees in Germany for a long time and at the same time have been educated in many fields such as biomedicine, engineering and natural sciences. Most of them are university graduates, in university clinics where I visit them for my work. Whenever they look at me with a serenity that is sometimes indescribable, I am melancholy too, and some of them have known me since my student days in Germany.
Statistics show that over 50,000 people have been killed in these areas in the last few months alone, while the world’s most powerful leaders remain silent as if they are not responsible for the ongoing genocide. Just as passive smokers are just as likely to get cancer, those who remain passive in the face of such large-scale global crimes against humanity are responsible for the mass killings in Gaza. we are all complicit because our voices are not heard, or many of us dare not speak out against Palestinian injustice. The elephant is in the room, but no one dares to speak out… why?
                Tbc

                  cont.
If not today, when will the rich nations (whose voices are heard on this globe, while those of the developing world are not) act against the Israeli bastards who have lost control of the ongoing killing spree?
The victimised Palestinians are reluctant to speak today, but their lingering grief for their loved ones in Gaza continues. They now believe that this world is full of evil, not the opposite. Had I been among them, I would have thought the same. At the end of the war in Sri Lanka, when masses of civilians were killed as if on a rampage, I thought about how brutal wars should be. I added my thoughts as I felt them at that time. That is why some Sinhala radicals started branding me as ‘SINHALA-KOTIYA’… and I may be working for the Tamil Diaspora while living in Europe. I am just another Sri Lankan / now just an international citizen where I raise my voice against any kind of human activities.

Manel Fonseka, If men are inhuman, God will leave them alone. He created humans in his perfect image but they sinned and marred that image. He sent Jesus to carry all human sin to the cross so that man can receive what he did, repent of karmic sins and be made perfect again into his image. So pray and get back what you lost. Mother says she called muslims priest and could do anything more.At the end, dirty, ugly rotten appe aanduwa’s rapist Army picked in the middle of traveling and did something to her. Then they force Fatima to witness that Pulastini was the ringleader of the bombing, Not Zaharan. Tamils protect less life, that girls got excellant A/L results and wanted to do Medicine ended tortured and tore out from her thigh a pound of flesh for every rapist army was involved in that, and is gone, For you no one other Pulatini is taking in this part because you conveniently a atheist. But for me, these are all Allah, Buddha Christ and Siva’s conspiracy. They brought those poor souls to this haunted land unnecessarily and let them unguarded, so the hungry beast can have fun and celebration on them. For men and women sex is fun in their agreed life.

Thank you, Chiv. I did read Dr Kahandagamage ‘s article about enforced disappearances. Years ago, as they were becoming frequent, in the ’80s, we referred to them as “disappearances”, in inverted commas.

The article brought back painful memories of one such “disappearance” on 19 June 1988 in Jaffna, that of lawyer (& colleague in the Civil Rights Movement — CRM), Kandiah Kanthasamy. Kantha was a much valued, loved & dedicated human rights activist who had abandoned a lucrative practice “to devote himself to HR work & organising assistance to persons displaced by the internal conflicts that ravaged SL from the late1970s”.

One year after his abduction the Kanthasamy Commemoration Committee published “An Untimely Death: A Commemoration of K. Kanthasamy”. 100+ pages, with tributes from nearly 50 people, letters by Kantha, details of the abduction & appeals for his release. My own contribution — “One of those rare people” — describes the nature & effect of the “disappearance”, & says that: “I, personally, have come to regard the “disappearance” as the most heinous of human rights violations, with its devastating, prolonged effect on the victim’s family.” Though, of course, in Kantha’s case, the forces of the state were not responsible, but one of the Tamil separatist factions.

Copies of this book can probaby still be obtained from CRM or the Nadesan Centre for Human Rights Through Law.

The total death toll in the Israeli offensive since October 2023 has now risen to 50,021. For no reason, Hamas terrorists have gone to kill Israelis, as a result the Muslim countries of the Middle East are facing an unending tragedy today. I think it is better for the Islamic terrorists to abandon blind fanatical religious policies now. And also very soon, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will also be destroyed because there were some Islamic terrorists who were instrumental for the uncivilized attack on the Twin Tower. However, I am of the view that the Islamic refugees in Gaza and/Palestine would be sent to Central Africa and settled there in order to maintain peace in the Middle East and Europe and also to put an end to illegal immigration to Europe. This is one way of avoiding killing of innocent people.

What a disappointing comment! Terrorism like all forms of political violence should be condemned. But to suggest that the indigenous Palestinians should be moved from their home and land to Central Africa ? Aren’t you aware that the modern state of Israel was created by European colonialists in West Asia by expelling the indigenous Palestinian Arabs? Sadly, Israeli propaganda has done a good job by appealing to many with entrenched anti-Muslim prejudices that results in such ignorant comments like yours and support for Israel.

Do not distort facts. Cannans are the rightful owners of the land that is called Palestine. Both Jews and Arabs are immigrants from north Africa. The name Palestine was coined after Philistines who are supposed to be Greek pirates. So the land has to be given back to Cannans and both Jews and Arabs should be sent back to north Africa. According to Bible, Moses led his people from Egypt to Jerusalem. So jews had been there for many years. Jesus Christ himself a Jew lived there 2000 years ago, which proves this. Arabs drove the Cannans and usurped the land. Later they got together with Romans and drove Jews out. This is recorded in history. Jews who were dispossessed of their land have the right to get back. Return of Jews to their promised land has been prophesied in Bible, and it has taken place. It is Islamic racist propaganda that says otherwise and every Islamic bigot parrots it. According to Bible, Israel has divine protection. All its enemies will be defeated and it will become stronger and stronger. This has been happening for the past 75 years, and it will certainly be in the future.

Muslims who are crying for Palestinians are turning a blind eye about Hindus in Pakistan who are the rightful owners of the land. Both Israel and Pakistan were created at the same time and on the same principle. One cannot be right and other wrong. Islamic bigots talk about displacement of thousands of Muslims by the creation of Israel, but are silent about murder and displacement of millions of Hindus from Pakistan. Hindus accepted Pakistan for the sake of peace, but Muslims did not accept Israel and went to war. Five countries attacked Israel thinking that a new nation will not be able to withstand but failed. Jews with divine assistance fought back and drove Muslims out. Muslims tried twice more and failed and this the fourth attempt to destroy Israel. Majority of Muslims want Israel to be destroyed and Jews killed and driven out. Unfortunately this is not happening and they are panicking. It is now proved that Indus valley belongs to Irular tribe of Tamil Nadu. Will the Muslims who are occupying give it back to them.

Original people of Egypt are Coptics. Arabs have driven them to the south and are occupying their land. Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon belong to Cannans. Syria and northern Iraq belongs to Assyrians and rest of middle east belong to Sumerians. All these lands have been usurped by Arabs. Recently Muslims murdered Assyrians in Syria, which amounts to genocide. Southern Iran belongs to Elamites and Muslims have murdered and driven off them and the Zorastrians. According to Bible, Elamites will get back their land for which to happen Iran has to be defeated. Recently a 4000 year old Sumerian temple was found in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, which proves that the land belongs to Sumerians. Kabah in Mecca was a Sumerian temple which Muslims have usurped. Koran says that Mohamed on his return to Mecca, removed the statues and placed a bleck stone. Arabs have murdered and driven off Sumerians. Will Arabs return these lands to the original owners. Are the Muslims not racists.

Wow! you are trying to justify European colonialists claims to West Asia on what may or not have happened more than 2000 years ago ? As Noam Chomsky, a proud Jewish American has said, his ancestry goes back to Eastern Europe not West Asia. That is likely true for most Jewish Europeans who were behind the creation of the modern state of Israel in West Asia. If you go back far enough, all humans migrated at some time. The idea that Jewish Europeans some of who’s ancestry in Europe goes back 2000 years have more rights to the land in West Asia than Palestinian Arabs who have been living in West Asia for centuries is not only ridiculous but also defies logic.
Put away your prejudices and look at both Jews and Arabs as humans.

Yes, I remember the time when theAfghan Islamists got rave reviews in the Western media for bravely standing up against the Soviet Union, which of course was the main enemy at the time. The Soviets didn’t get any rave reviews for providing education to women and girls of course.

        LankaScot & R.Kaz,
Remember, even Egypt do not want to accommodate the Palestinians as refugees in its territory. Likewise other Muslim countries are reluctant to accommodate the Palestinians. If this is the situation, where should these helpless people be placed. Atleast a section in Africa may be safe for these helpless Palestinians. The manner in which these people are killed, I am afriad that within a few months this particular will be wiped out. This is an open question – will any rich Islamic country such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, or even Iraq or Iran prepared to accommodate these Palestinians in their territories. What is vital is to save the lives of these helples Palestinians. Life is a Gift of God and no one has the right to take others’ life. This applied even to Islamic terrorists.

I agree, no one has the right to take others’ life and that applies to both Hamas and Israel. No war since WW2 has seen the scale of civilian deaths as this one and for that, the finger should be pointed right at Israel who have killed over 15 thousand children since October 2023. The responsibility for the manner in which the Palestinians are killed lies squarely with Israel and its enablers in the West. Everything else is Israeli propaganda. Who is the occupier and who is occupied here? Who is the oppressor and who is the oppressed here? Why should the Palestinians leave their homeland and move to Africa or another Arab country, why are we even debating whether the Palestinians should be ethnically cleansed! That is a crime! The solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is justice for the Palestinians who were expelled from their homes and lands to make way for the modern state of Israel, not the extremist solution of ethnically cleansing them twice from their homes to make way for Jewish immigrants from around the world. The question is not whether an Islamic country will accommodate the Palestinians, but why is Israel allowed to get away with such an evil act.

“Why should the Palestinians leave their homeland and move to Africa or another Arab country”

Because that is what Palestinians would do to the Jews if they were in charge. Check the Hamas charter. And all the anti-semites would justify the expulsion/mass murder of Jews as justifiable.

              Hello Lester,
Have you ever heard of “Collective Punishment”?
2000 years ago Calgacus (In Caledonia) told the Romans “You make a wasteland and call it Peace”
Have we not learned anything in the last 2000 years? The Israelis have flattened Gaza, killed 60,000 or more of the Palestinians and are now preparing to Ethnically cleanse them from Gaza. It is not Israeli Land. The Palestinian Women and Children that were killed were not Terrorists. It is a Genocide Lester. Everything the Israelis have done is against International Humanitarian Law. They will be found Guilty of Genocide, but it will probably be too late.
The Romans built Hadrian’s Wall after the Battle of Mons Graupius to keep the Caledonians in check.
The Israelis will have to build a much bigger one.
              Best regards

              Lester & davidthegood,
Both the Jews and the Palestinians have significant sacred places in Jerusalem and West Bank. However, today the modern inventions and ideas introduced by Jewish innovators have greatly shaped modern society. Especially in the field of healthcare, Jewish contributions highlight the resilience and creativity of a community that has faced immense challenges throughout history. Jewish inventiveness continues to inspire and transform our lives including that of Muslims communities. It is the Islamic fanaticism that cannot be toleated by the international community. Just imagine the Muslims when they migrate to European countries they have the no-go-zones which has become a challenge to democracy. Both their religions are man-made religions and not God-created religion and that one man’s ideology of not respecting other’s has become a contested issue, especially when they are unable to define God or nature of God. Therefore let the Palestinians be settled in Africa for sometime until they shape themselves and transform their lives.

                  davidthegood,
No one gave. Africa is the only place where these Hamas or Palestinians can remain and realize their faults. It is the only place to transform their lives after witnessing the horrors that is taking place in Nigeria and in some other countries. They should realize that Life is a Gift of God.

You are watching too much YouTube.
Be that as it may, the very people who complain about no-go zones are the ones who set up no-go zones in your own country for “natives”, when they were the rulers.

Do you know the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict ? When the British having taken control of Palestine from the Ottoman empire at the end of WW1 came up with the Balfour Declaration in 1917 announcing its support for the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, the population of Jews there was approximately 8%, the rest were Muslims, Druze and Christians. At the creation of the modern state of Israel, the Palestinian Arabs were expelled from their lands that their ancestry goes back centuries to end up as refugees in the West Bank, Gaza and other parts of West Asia. Thousands of Palestinian Arabs were killed leading up to the creation of Israel and hundreds of thousands were expelled from their homes and land, so think about that before you repeat Israeli/Western propaganda!
I knew it won’t be long before the “antisemite” accusation will rise its head in defense of the gross violence against the indigenous Palestinian population. That term itself is a very European/Western one because of the gross bigotry and violence European Jews experienced at the hands of Christian Europeans in Europe. The anti-Jewish pogroms and the Holocaust itself is very European, not West Asian!

“No war since WW2 has seen the scale of civilian deaths as this one”. How about 165,000 Tamils killed in the last few years of the war in Srilanka, in which Muslims are complicit. Pakistani pilots were used for indiscriminate bombing of civilian targets during the last stages of war. So far not a single Buddhist or Muslim has been punished for crimes committed against Tamils. Muslims have committed ethnic cleansing of Tamils from eastern province and usurped their lands. Muslim claim to eastern province is the worst racism in Srilanka, when their ancestors went there for protection from persecution by Portuguese. First condemn what happened to Tamils 16 years ago and hand over Muslim perpetrators of crime before raising the finger at others.

Dr. G. S. Tamil history also has a terrorist in VP. Why not leave the past and move forward as a united Sri Lankan.

Doc, I am aware that Tens of thousands of my fellow Tamils, mostly civilians were killed in the 30 year civil war and no one in the Sri Lankan state has been held responsible for the killings and sadly justice for those crimes will never come. However, the Palestinian Arabs, Muslims and Christians alike had NO responsibility for those crimes. Are you saying Muslim complicity in Tamil civilian killings justify Palestinians to be killed in Gaza ? I don’t understand your argument in support of the killings in Gaza. All civilian killings should be condemned, to not to do so reflects ones prejudices against those civilians, nothing else.

          Hello AYATHURAY RAJASINGAM,
There is an easier way, Ronald Reagan did it in 1982. He phoned Israeli Prime minister Menachem Begin and told him to stop. “Within 20 minutes of a phone call between Reagan and Begin, in which the former said the bombings were going too far and needed to stop, Begin ordered the bombings stopped”.
Joe Biden could have done the same, but he is a Zionist. Trump will never do it, despite his claims to be a “Peacemaker”.
Maybe, but I doubt it, the Europeans can put pressure on the Israelis.
There were a few of us on CT that said, right after the Israelis started Bombing Gaza, that they wanted to ethnically Cleanse Gaza and the West Bank would probably be annexed.
          Best regards

The view I have always held was that both Israel and Hamas, Hizbulla +++ are all terrorists. None of them want to end this war because they all are beneficiaries of conflicts – this way or that way. Now finally the general public of Gaza have realized the reality and protesting Hamas:
