{"id":101169,"date":"2013-08-19T14:26:25","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T08:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=101169"},"modified":"2013-08-24T00:16:09","modified_gmt":"2013-08-23T18:46:09","slug":"matale-mass-grave-inquiry-matale-magistrate-orders-cid-to-explain-failure-to-implement-court-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/matale-mass-grave-inquiry-matale-magistrate-orders-cid-to-explain-failure-to-implement-court-order\/","title":{"rendered":"Matale Mass Grave Inquiry: Matale Magistrate Orders CID To Explain Failure To Implement Court Order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">The Magistrate&#8217;s Court inquiry into the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Matale+mass+graves&amp;x=8&amp;y=1\">mass grave discovered in Matale<\/a><\/span> was taken up in the\u00a0 Magistrate Court of Matale today (19th August 2013).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/video-sri-lanka-mass-grave-called-a-crime-site\/capture-matale\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-74240\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-74240\" title=\"Capture Matale\" src=\"http:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Capture-Matale-300x233.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Capture-Matale-300x233.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Capture-Matale.jpg 335w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The court accepted several affidavits of family members who believe the remains of their loved one are amongst the bodies unearthed. The affidavits contained information of disappearances and some disclosed names of army officials who were responsible for taking into custody individuals who thereafter disappeared. Those who had tendered affidavits to court are to present themselves at the police headquarters in Matale on 27th, 28th and 29th August 2013 to enable the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police (CID) to obtain statements and further information.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate also ordered the CID to submit a written explanation as to why a previous court order requiring public notices to be issued had not yet been implemented.<\/p>\n<p>The case is to be called up again on the 4th of November 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":74240,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2187,1,6969,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-101169","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-most-popular","category-news","category-popular-stories","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
