C. Kamalasabayson Memorial Oration at the Hulftsdorp Law College, on the topic &#8220;What Ails The Justice Delivery System?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_104178\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/judicial-independence-impossible-till-president-cant-decide-judicial-appointments-alone-former-ag-basl-chief\/shibly-aziz\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-104178\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-104178\" class=\" wp-image-104178 \" title=\"Shibly Aziz\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Shibly-Aziz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-104178\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shibly Aziz PC<\/p><\/div>\n<p>He said that until the process and system for making judicial appointments can be made free of the ability of the &#8216;executive&#8217; to make appointments at its sole discretion, &#8220;independence of the judiciary&#8221; will remain a standard too high&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that a robust bar is needed, to protect the legal and judicial system. He noted that the stand taken by the bar when Chief Justice <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Shirani+Bandaranayake&amp;x=10&amp;y=2\">Bandaranayake<\/a><\/span> was mistreated, was something to be proud of, despite what happened eventually.<\/p>\n<p>Glowing tribute was paid to the late K. C. Kamalasabayson, PC who was described as a skilled counsel and a highly ethical gentleman who protected the principles on which the Attorney General&#8217;s Department should be run.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, the website of the Kamalasabayson Foundation (www.thekamalasabaysonfoundation.com) was launched. The site contains several features, including the complete text of previous orations and a &#8216;Guest Book&#8217; in which several people have started writing of their various memories and experiences with the late Mr. K. C.
