{"id":111102,"date":"2013-10-22T12:41:43","date_gmt":"2013-10-22T07:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=111102"},"modified":"2013-10-28T01:33:20","modified_gmt":"2013-10-27T20:03:20","slug":"bbs-back-on-the-road-with-anti-halal-campaign-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/bbs-back-on-the-road-with-anti-halal-campaign-again\/","title":{"rendered":"BBS &#8211; Back On The Road With Anti-Halal Campaign Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Bodu+Bala+Sena&amp;x=10&amp;y=4\">Bodu Bala Sena<\/a><\/span> which retreated into the shadows in the wake of high level visits by UN officials and the Government&#8217;s touch and go situation with regard to the hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meet, is back on the road again pledging to recommence it&#8217;s anti-Halal agitation that resulted in widespread <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Islamophobia&amp;x=12&amp;y=4\">Islamophobia<\/a><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Anti-Muslim+campaign+&amp;x=12&amp;y=1\">violence against the Muslim<\/a><\/span> minority community the first time it unfolded in January this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/bbs-back-on-the-road-with-anti-halal-campaign-again\/bbs-11\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-111170\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-111170\" title=\"BBS\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BBS2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"518\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BBS2.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BBS2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/BBS2-800x600.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px\" \/><\/a>The Bodu Bala Sena &#8216;motorcade&#8217; set off from Kirulapone this morning, heading off to the hill capital of Kandy, where the hardline group will seek the blessings of the Sacred Tooth relic with a special Adishtana Pooja in front of the historic temple this afternoon before it restarts its campaign to rid the country of what it calls the &#8216;Halal menace&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>As the motorcade makes its way to Kandy, the BBS will stop at Kegalle, a multi-ethnic District with a significant Muslim population for a major rally at which it is expected to rake up anti-minority slogans and hate speech against the Muslim community.<\/p>\n<p>However despite the group&#8217;s grand relaunching of its anti-Halal agitation, the campaign is unlikely to make waves until CHOGM is concluded in Colombo in mid November, sources told Colombo Telegraph.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":111170,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,6969,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-111102","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-popular-stories","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
