Syria\u2019s at peace, it\u2019s economy, thriving. The tourists are back and the \u201cterrorists\u201d, vanquished. Mr Assad is basking in golden glow of total victory. And the terrible war crimes of which he was once accused? Swept under the carpet, in the spirit of looking forward, not back.\u00a0 Triumphant, magnanimous, his charming wife at his side, the dictator-turned-statesman grasps the hand of the British Prime Minister, and shakes it firmly, live on TV. A huge grin splits Assad\u2019s face.
