{"id":116668,"date":"2013-12-12T15:17:11","date_gmt":"2013-12-12T09:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=116668"},"modified":"2013-12-23T00:42:41","modified_gmt":"2013-12-22T19:12:41","slug":"91-duty-free-car-journos-and-496-laptop-journos-keheliya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/91-duty-free-car-journos-and-496-laptop-journos-keheliya\/","title":{"rendered":"91 Duty Free Car Journos And 496 Laptop Journos &#8211; Keheliya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Media Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Keheliya+Rambukwella&amp;x=9&amp;y=1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keheliya Rambukwella<\/span><\/a> sought to boost his Government\u2019s media credentials in Parliament yesterday, claiming that there had been no attacks or abductions of media personnel since 2010 and revealing that the regime had awarded duty free vehicles and laptops to hundreds of media personnel in the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/keheliya-and-mahinda.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-77571\" alt=\"keheliya-and-mahinda\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/keheliya-and-mahinda-300x166.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/keheliya-and-mahinda-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/keheliya-and-mahinda.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Minister Rambukwella said 91 journalists had been provided duty free vehicles while 496 journalists had received laptops from the Government.<\/p>\n<p>He added that 30 Parliament reporters would also be entitled to receive the benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Several state media and independent journalists received laptops from President Mahinda Rajapaksa about one year ago at a special ceremony.
