Monks have supposedly been at the forefront\u00a0of organising the movement, called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Bodu+Bala+Sena&amp;x=13&amp;y=0\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bodu Bala Sena<\/span><\/a> _ or Buddhist Power Force. They have attracted thousands of followers who have staged numerous intimidating and provocative\u00a0acts to harass the island nation&#8217;s minority Muslim community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/bbs022013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-118405\" alt=\"bbs022013\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/bbs022013.jpg\" width=\"444\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/bbs022013.jpg 444w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/bbs022013-300x136.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/a>The Bodu Bala Sena is similar to the 969 movement of Myanmar. Their ideology, actions and speeches are virtually identical. The only real difference is important. The Sri Lankan group has not actually\u00a0committed violent acts.
