On Sunday 9th<\/sup> of March, two anti-US protests were held in Chennai against a \u2018weak\u2019 US sponsored draft resolution<\/span><\/a> on Sri Lanka, which was leaked during the ongoing 25th<\/sup> session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Organized by non-partisan student groups, the Tamil youth chanted anti-US slogans and called for \u201cboycotting of US products\u201d. First protest was held in a busy shopping mall that included the \u201ctaking over\u201d of a KFC restaurant for nearly an hour by the protesters.<\/p>\n

The second protest was held at the Marina Beach, where protesters were holding placards with slogans like, \u201cF**k off USA\u201d, \u201cTamils reject US resolution\u201d, \u201cWe piss on anti-Tamil American resolution\u201d, and \u201cIndependent Tamileelam is the only solution\u201d. According to some reports<\/span>, the protesters also burnt \u201cAmerican products\u201d to demonstrate their displeasure over the US sponsored draft resolution. Last year similar anti-US protests were held in Tamil Nadu during the 22nd<\/sup> session of the UN Human Rights Council, that includes the washing of footwear using \u201cAmerican soft drinks\u201d by the students of Bharathiar University in Coimbatore.<\/p>\n
