Ruki Fernando and Fr. Praveen who were\u00a0detained on March 16 under the\u00a0Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA)\u00a0are being released\u00a0a short while ago.<\/p>\n

Last evening the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the UN exercising its right of reply said;\u00a0\u00a0The detention on 16th<\/sup>\u00a0March of Mr.\u00a0Ruki Fernando<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Father Praveen<\/a>\u00a0under the PTA were in connection with an investigation into attempts to revive the LTTE by operatives, including the recovery of the arms cach\u00e9 at Vishwamadu and the shooting incident in Dharmapuram involving Gobi. Investigations have revealed that Mr. Fernando and Father Praveen had been in Killinochchi engaging with persons connected to Gobi. Their questioning is continuing at present to ascertain the whereabouts of Gobi and other related operatives.<\/p>\n
