{"id":123169,"date":"2014-04-13T00:40:06","date_gmt":"2014-04-12T19:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=123169"},"modified":"2014-04-29T12:50:17","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T07:20:17","slug":"bbs-classified-as-a-terrorist-organization-by-terrorism-research-analysis-consortium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/bbs-classified-as-a-terrorist-organization-by-terrorism-research-analysis-consortium\/","title":{"rendered":"BBS Classified As A Terrorist Organization By Terrorism Research &#038; Analysis Consortium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trackingterrorism.org\/about\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Terrorism Research &amp; Analysis Consortium<\/span><\/a> (TRAC) has classified Sri Lanka\u2019s Bodu Bala Sena as a \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.trackingterrorism.org\/group\/bodu-bala-sena\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">terrorist organization<\/span><\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>When Colombo Telegraph asked why the TRAC profiled the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Bodu+Bala+Sena&amp;x=11&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BBS<\/span><\/a> as a terrorist organization, the TRAC said; \u201ctheir actions resemble acts of terror against soft targets as well as infrastructure that symbolises Muslim and Christian religions. Their acts indicate a willingness to engage in violent acts as to further their cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou must keep in mind that TRAC&#8217;s classifications are based on indicators, such as extreme intolerance, using intimidation and violence as to spread a message of fear amongst opponents as well as propaganda statements based on the spread of an uncompromising stance towards opposing groups or governments.
