From Parents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Janadipathi+Balika&amp;x=11&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Principal of Janadipathi Balika Vidyalaya<\/span><\/a>, Nayana Thakshila Perera had allegedly sought the assistance of parents to cover her &#8220;legal fees&#8221; after reportedly stating that it amounts to over &#8221; 400,000&#8243; Rs, despite being entitled to representation from the Attorney General&#8217;s Department.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Sri-Lanka_Hijab.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-121438\" alt=\"Sri-Lanka_Hijab\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Sri-Lanka_Hijab.jpg\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>During a specially convened meeting held at the school today, the Principal who is at the centre of a controversy regarding the banning of the &#8216;punjabi&#8217; attire in school, had informed the parents that she is to &#8220;mortgage her car&#8221; in order to cover her &#8221; legal costs&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>However, since the action filed in the Supreme Court against the Principal is regarding an administrative action taken by the Principal in her capacity as the Principal of the school, she is entitled to representation from the Attorney General.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly the motive behind seeking assistance from the parents is unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Parents today had thereafter collected, Rs 500 from each parent who was present at the meeting in order to meet the purported &#8221;
