{"id":133849,"date":"2014-11-28T15:13:47","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T09:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=133849"},"modified":"2014-12-02T00:42:30","modified_gmt":"2014-12-01T19:12:30","slug":"rajapaksa-family-controls-62-of-budget-22-more-than-in-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/rajapaksa-family-controls-62-of-budget-22-more-than-in-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"Rajapaksa Family Controls 56% Of Budget, 16% More Than In 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><strong>By\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Niranjan+Rambukwella&amp;x=11&amp;y=4\">Niranjan Rambukwella<\/a><\/span>\u00a0&#8211;<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Out of every rupee spent by our government, 56 cents are directly controlled by members of the Rajapaksa family.<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> Analysis of budgets over the last five years reveals that the share of the budget controlled by the Rajapaksa family, <\/span><i style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">viz <\/i><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Mahinda+Rajapaksa&amp;x=10&amp;y=2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mahinda Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Basil+Rajapaksa&amp;x=7&amp;y=2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Basil Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a> MP and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Nirupama+Rajapaksa&amp;x=9&amp;y=8\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nirupama Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a> MP, increased 16 percent \u2013 from an already gargantuan 40 percent in 2010 to an eye-watering 56 percent this year. The chart below tells the story.
