A complaint was filed today with the Bribery Comission against financial frauds committed by the Rajapaksa brothers, sons and several other top officials of the Rajapaksa regime .<\/p>\n

JVP MPs today lodged a complaint at the Bribery and Corruption commission against some members of the Rajapaksa regime, while calling upon the Commission to suspend the respondents’ foreign trips until probes against them are concluded.<\/p>\n

We see Johnston, Yapa, Dullas, Wimal, Gnanasara and a few others in the same calibre as leaders of the battle plan.<\/p><\/div>\n

JVP MPs Vijitha Herath<\/span><\/a> and Sunil Hadunnetti<\/span> today named Mahinda Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a>, Basil Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a>, Gotabaya Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a> and several other top officials\/institutions of the Rajapaksa regime including former Central Bank governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal<\/span><\/a>, Carlton Super Sports Club, Former Consumer Affairs Minister Johnston Fernando<\/span><\/a>, Former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardhana, Tourism Board Chairman Senanka Gunawardena, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Rumy Fouzer, National Lotteries Board and the former Director General of the Economic Development Ministry.as the respondents of their complaint.<\/p>\n

The list of charges made against the respondents in the complaint are as follows:<\/p>\n

Using finances of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Board to promote UPFA candidates who were contesting for the Western and Southern provincial council polls, through advertisements published in the Dinamina newspaper on March 12 and 13 last year.<\/p>\n

While owing millions of money as tax payments to the Treasury, the Carlton Lotto Sports Club has instead imported luxury cars using the tax concessions and non-payment of taxes for the 500 machines that were imported.<\/p>\n

The CLSC’s several other financial misappropriations includes a payment of 123,000 USD due to be made to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.<\/p>\n

Irregularities committed in awarding contracts to print lottery cards and adding additional expenses than the benchmark costs for the printing to contractors without following a proper tender procedure.<\/p>\n

Mahinda Rajapaksa generating money off hedging deals upon holding ransom, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation
\nPurchasing financial bonds from Greece despite full knowledge of that country’s economic crisis and thereby gaining financial benefits.<\/p>\n

Water management projects in several areas including Middenya and Deniyaya awarded without following a proper tender procedure and submitting additional expenses for the constructions than the benchmark cost under direct interventions of Namal Rajapaksa<\/p>\n

Committing financial frauds in holding the Divineguma National Convention last year in the Hyde Park Grounds.
\nPrinting some 5 million almanacs bearing Mahinda Rajapaksa’s image using finances of the Economic Development Ministry.<\/p>\n

Appropriation of lands within the Colombo City limits illegally and non-payment of proper compensation for the land owners.<\/p>\n

The MPs have requested the Bribery and Corruption Commission to probe into the asset declarations of the respondents and to take necessary legal action against them if found guilty<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
