{"id":137353,"date":"2015-01-17T20:43:10","date_gmt":"2015-01-17T15:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=137353"},"modified":"2015-01-24T03:08:28","modified_gmt":"2015-01-23T21:38:28","slug":"an-attempt-to-rig-votes-exposed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/an-attempt-to-rig-votes-exposed\/","title":{"rendered":"An Attempt To Rig Votes Exposed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Details of an attempt made to insert fake ballot papers in which the vote has been cast for the UPFA candidate during the recently concluded Presidential elections have been disclosed.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_69400\" style=\"width: 161px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Harsha-de-Silva.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69400\" class=\"size-full wp-image-69400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Harsha-de-Silva.jpg\" alt=\"Harsha\" width=\"151\" height=\"158\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-69400\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Harsha<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The expose was made by UNP MP and Minister of the new interim government Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Harsha+de+Silva&amp;x=6&amp;y=1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Harsha de Silva<\/span><\/a> on Facebook, who has uploaded an image of a receipt that had been signed by an Elections official in acceptance of the money paid in order to accept the ballot papers and rig the votes.<\/p>\n<p>In the image shared by Dr. Harsha, an Elections Official has signed accepting the ballot papers that were intended to be used for rigging, for the 1053 polling stations located in Colombo.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Harsha said he has received a file that contains details of the scheme where Rs. 10,000 had been paid to every polling center Chief for accepting the bundle of ballot papers.
