{"id":140120,"date":"2015-02-26T19:57:16","date_gmt":"2015-02-26T14:27:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=140120"},"modified":"2015-03-07T19:14:23","modified_gmt":"2015-03-07T13:44:23","slug":"police-is-deliberately-remaining-inactive-on-rajapaksa-crimes-rajitha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/police-is-deliberately-remaining-inactive-on-rajapaksa-crimes-rajitha\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Is Deliberately Remaining Inactive On Rajapaksa Crimes: Rajitha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Rajitha+Senaratne&amp;x=11&amp;y=3\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rajitha Senaratne<\/span><\/a> today said that the Police department is deliberately remaining inactive on the crimes committed by the Rajapaksa family despite certain allegations against them being proven and are instead resorting to focusing on the \u2018small fish\u2019.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_67446\" style=\"width: 262px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Rajitha-Senaratne.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67446\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Rajitha-Senaratne.jpg\" alt=\"Rajitha\" width=\"252\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-67446\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rajitha<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Speaking at a media briefing today, Minister Senaratne said although the government changed, the state mechanisms yet remain the same and are headed by Rajapaksa henchmen who were granted promotions and various other perks during the previous regime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will reveal the names of these officials within a few days. Those in law enforcement authorities are not taking necessary action so that they can tarnish the image of the government and disappoint those who supported us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to state however that they would keep the pledges they made to the people and would take grave action against those who committed abuses during the Rajapaksa regime.<\/p>\n<p>He said the counsel, who advised the Attorney general\u2019s department on the course of action against the Avant Garde controversy, has then appeared and obtained bail for the Avant Garde owner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe most probably came to an agreement with the AG Department to refrain from objecting to bail being granted in the case,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister went on to state that arrest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Wimal+Weerawansa&amp;x=5&amp;y=1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Shashi Weerawansa<\/span><\/a> etc are not the important matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first question should be who has funded to start CSN? In the Rajapaksa family alone, two charges against them have been proven in cases filed at the Bribery and Corruption Commission and two rape cases have been filed as well. . . We will deal with these issues first.
