{"id":142345,"date":"2015-04-05T18:28:13","date_gmt":"2015-04-05T12:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=142345"},"modified":"2015-04-05T18:34:15","modified_gmt":"2015-04-05T13:04:15","slug":"people-unable-to-celebrate-new-year-due-to-sirisena-govt-actions-mr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/people-unable-to-celebrate-new-year-due-to-sirisena-govt-actions-mr\/","title":{"rendered":"People Unable To Celebrate New Year Due To Sirisena Govt Actions: MR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While criticizing the various corruption charges that have been made against him and some members of his regime, former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Mahinda+Rajapaksa&amp;x=9&amp;y=4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mahinda Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a> says the arbitrary actions of the present government that have resulted in a halt of the development activities initiated during his tenure, has put hundreds of families in dire conditions, unable to event celebrate the upcoming New Year due to poor economic conditions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_142347\" style=\"width: 491px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Mahinda-New-year-2014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-142347\" class=\" wp-image-142347\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Mahinda-New-year-2014.jpg\" alt=\"Mahinda's New year 2014\" width=\"481\" height=\"583\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Mahinda-New-year-2014.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Mahinda-New-year-2014-247x300.jpg 247w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-142347\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mahinda&#8217;s New year 2014<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Referring to the allegations made by Minister Kabir Hashim last week concerning several infrastructure projects initiated by the Rajapaksa regime, MR\u2019s office has released a statement in which he has said the present government\u2019s habit of making accusations has reached such absurd levels that they have even started finding faults with standard practices followed, labeling them as financial misappropriations and abuses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The government should think of the future of these people without wasting time spinning tales about the past,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The former President states the various infrastructure projects can be manipulated in order to make it seem as if corruption has occurred as for the for a layman with no knowledge of the complexities involved in handing out the contracts, it can seem convincing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnlike matter like sugar or dhal, road construction projects do not have generic market prices.
