{"id":143888,"date":"2015-05-02T02:34:53","date_gmt":"2015-05-01T21:04:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=143888"},"modified":"2015-05-02T07:57:23","modified_gmt":"2015-05-02T02:27:23","slug":"dr-nirmal-assaulted-by-slfp-snubs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/dr-nirmal-assaulted-by-slfp-snubs\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Nirmal Assaulted By SLFP Snubs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spokesperson of the Federation of University Teachers\u2019 Association (FUTA) Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Nirmal+Ranjith+Dewasiri&amp;x=14&amp;y=4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri<\/span><\/a> was attacked by\u00a0a group of participants at<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">\u00a0the May day rally organised by <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=SLFP\">SLFP\u00a0snubs<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Nirmal-Ranjith-e1382513813136.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-111309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Nirmal-Ranjith-e1382513813136-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Nirmal Ranjith\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Dr. Nirmal had gone to see the rally organised by Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, Dinesh Gunawardena and Vasudeva Nanayakkara.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The attackers criticised Dr. Nirmal for supporting Maithripala Sirisena and working against Rajapaksas in the January presidential elections, an eyewitness told <em>Colombo Telegraph<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Police Media Spokesperson confirmed that he was attacked near attending Kirulopne May Day rally.
