The Bar Association of Sri Lanka<\/span><\/a> has today called upon the Attorney General and the other law enforcement authorities to bring the perpetrators who attacked the Jaffna\u00a0Court premises\u00a0<\/span>to justice.<\/span><\/p>\n

We publish below the statement in full;<\/p>\n

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) expresses its strong condemnation and abhorrence of the incident which took place in Jaffna where the Court premises came under attack. The Bar Association of Sri Lanka is of the view that this conduct amounts, to a serious and unwarranted interference with the administration of justice and the judicial process.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka calls upon the Honourable Attorney General and the other law enforcement authorities, including the Inspector General of Police, to bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Bar Association of Sri Lanka calls on the authorities to provide the’ – necessary security to Court premises to protect the honour, dignity and the respect of the holders of judicial office and of the judicial system.<\/p>\n

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka affirms that the honour, dignity and security of the Court and Court premises are critical for ensuring the proper functioning of a democracy and the upholding of the Rule of Law.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
