The President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena<\/span><\/a> has instructed his official web<\/span><\/a> master to remove all four pictures<\/span><\/a> on the presidential page’s slider that shows him posing only with Sinhala Buddhist monks and replace them with a set of new pictures that gives a more balanced outlook towards promoting of ethnic harmony and peace instead, Colombo Telegraph learns.<\/p>\n

\"Maithripala<\/a>The Presidential website now carries a picture of him with Hindu Priests, a picture of him in China on an official visit, two pictures of him surrounded by children and only one picture of him with the Sinhala Buddhist monks.<\/p>\n

It is reliably learnt that after it was highlighted earlier by Colombo Telegraph, President Sirisena had received many complaints from his close advisors, that the previous set of photos portrayed him to be more of a President to the Sinhala Buddhists only, rather than to all the other ethnic groups that make up the rest of the country’s population.<\/p>\n

Earlier Colombo Telegraph wrote a story on the President playing the ‘saffron’ card<\/span><\/a> to keep his beloved Sinhala Buddhist folk happy.<\/p>\n

Browsing through the same slider of the official Presidential website now reveals a set of five completely new images with two pictures of him surrounded by children highlighting the future of the country and a picture of him on an official state visit to China which highlights the country’s friendly international ties. Two other pictures also reveal himself, one with the Buddhist monks and one with Hindu priests portraying his support and stance towards racial harmony.<\/p>\n

However the photograph introducing President Sirisena on his official Presidential website, which has in its background the cropped version of the national flag displaying only the lion holding a sword in its paw depicting the bravery of the Sinhala Buddhists, still remains.<\/p>\n

It is still observed that other ethnic groups such as the Malays, Moors, Burghers and others that represents religious groups such as Islam and Christianity have been ignored completely still.<\/p>\n
