Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka<\/span><\/a> told reporters who were present at the Temple Trees to cover the signing of the MOU for United National Front for Good Governance that more ex- SLFP MPs would join the coalition today.<\/p>\n

However, all crossovers ahead of the Parliamentary election have to take place today as handing over nomination papers for the elections ends from 12 noon today.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Minister Duminda Dissanayake<\/span><\/a>, an SLFP stalwart who supported President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential election, was not present at the signing of the MOU, as speculated.<\/p>\n

Party sources said Dissanayake would contest from the UPFA for Anuradhapura district, alongside allies of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.<\/p>\n

Dissanayake had been given the electorate organizer position of Kalaweva – a post held by his father for so many years. After his father’s death, Dissnayake’s political rival S.M. Chandrasena was appointed as the SLFP Kalaweva Organizer by former party leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Democratic Party Secretary Ananda Manawadu denied rumours that his party leader Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka would join the UNP to contest for Kurunegala against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
