{"id":148613,"date":"2015-08-08T22:33:37","date_gmt":"2015-08-08T17:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=148613"},"modified":"2015-08-08T22:33:53","modified_gmt":"2015-08-08T17:03:53","slug":"a-major-breakthrough-in-bloemendhal-shooting-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/a-major-breakthrough-in-bloemendhal-shooting-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"A Major Breakthrough In Bloemendhal Shooting Investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Making a major breakthrough in the investigation related to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/unp-condemns-bloemendhal-shooting-at-ravi-ks-supporters\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the shooting incident at Bloemendhal Road<\/span><\/a>, Police today said that they have identified the car which was used by gunmen and also had arrested one of the shooters involved in the July 31 incident, which claimed the lives of two persons and injured 11 others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/blumendle_car.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-148614\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/blumendle_car.jpg\" alt=\"blumendle_car\" width=\"324\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/blumendle_car.jpg 324w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/blumendle_car-208x300.jpg 208w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><\/a>The vehicle used by shooters has been identified as a black hybrid car bearing the numbers KX 3149.<\/p>\n<p>Also a 28 year old gym instructor named Widanagamage Amila has been arrested near Hulftsdorp Court Complex, Colombo in connection with the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>According to Police the arrested suspect is being interrogated to identify the other suspects involved in the shooting and to recover the weapons used in it.<\/p>\n<p>The arrested person is linked to an underworld gang, according to the Police.<\/p>\n<p>Siththy Nasima (42), a resident of Madampapitiya in Kotahena, died while 11 others were wounded in the shooting targeting a group of UNP supporters engaged in canvassing for Finance Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Ravi+Karunanayake&amp;x=12&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ravi Karunanayake<\/span><\/a> on July 31.<\/p>\n<p>One of the wounded persons, B. Niroshan Sampath (30), also succumbed to injuries 3 days later.<\/p>\n<p>The United People\u2019s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and even some UNP politicians have claimed that the shooting was the result of a clash between two underworld gangs.
