{"id":152004,"date":"2015-10-07T15:50:44","date_gmt":"2015-10-07T10:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=152004"},"modified":"2015-10-08T04:37:51","modified_gmt":"2015-10-07T23:07:51","slug":"four-army-personnel-found-guilty-of-raping-woman-killinochchi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/four-army-personnel-found-guilty-of-raping-woman-killinochchi\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Army Personnel Found Guilty Of Raping Woman Killinochchi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four Army personnel, found guilty of raping one woman and molesting another in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Killinochchi&amp;x=8&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Killinochchi<\/span><\/a> in the north, were sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by Jaffna high court today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/army-lanka.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-47814\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/army-lanka-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"army lanka\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/army-lanka-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/army-lanka.jpg 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The four were accused and charged of raping one woman and molesting another in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The Jaffna High court further ordered the accused to pay one of the women who was raped Rs. 500,000 as compensation and in the event of the accused failing to pay the sum ordered to add another 5 years to their sentence.<\/p>\n<p>One of the accused in the rape is still absconding and the case was heard without his presence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One and only case where a Tamil woman survived the military rape and pointed at her rapists in court.&#8221; a women&#8217;s rights activist told Colombo Telegraph.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":42012,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-152004","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
