{"id":152781,"date":"2015-10-28T19:58:59","date_gmt":"2015-10-28T14:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=152781"},"modified":"2015-11-06T09:42:51","modified_gmt":"2015-11-06T04:12:51","slug":"mrs-bil-former-srilankan-chief-missing-according-to-wife-precifac-in-a-dilemma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/mrs-bil-former-srilankan-chief-missing-according-to-wife-precifac-in-a-dilemma\/","title":{"rendered":"MR&#8217;s BIL, Former SriLankan Chief Missing According To Wife,  PRECIFAC In A Dilemma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=PRECIFAC&amp;x=6&amp;y=6\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PRECIFAC<\/span><\/a>)\u00a0is in a dilemma on how to deliver summons on former SriLankan Airlines Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Nishantha+Wickremasinghe&amp;x=13&amp;y=2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nishantha Wickramasinghe<\/span><\/a> after his wife had told a group of officers that she had not seen nor heard from her husband for the past 3 years.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_142684\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nishantha-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-142684\" class=\"size-full wp-image-142684\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nishantha-.jpg\" alt=\"Nishantha\" width=\"300\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nishantha-.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Nishantha--50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-142684\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nishantha<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A group of officers from the commission had gone to Wickramasinghe&#8217;s Mount Lavinia residence today to deliver summons requesting him to appear before the commission on the 30th of this month to record a statement on allegations of financial irregularities at Sri Lankan Catering Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>However, they were in a for a rude shock as the wife of Wickramasinghe had told the officers that she had not seen nor heard from her husband for the past 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we are in a dilemma on how to deliver summons on the former Sri Lankan airlines chief to appear before the commission\u201d one of the commission members said.<\/p>\n<p>The former first lady <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Shiranthi+Rajapaksa&amp;x=10&amp;y=2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Shiranthi Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a>&#8216;s brother, Nishantha Wickramasinghe is facing a barrage of accusations on issues ranging from mistresses, corruption, racketeering, Fraud to deception and gross abuse of power.<\/p>\n<p>Recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Weliamuna+Report&amp;x=12&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a Board of Inquiry<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(BOI) appointed by the government found shocking details of corruption running into billions of dollars, manipulations of service contracting, recruitment of unqualified staff and major security breaches at Sri Lankan Airlines under Wickramasinghe&#8217;s tenure.<\/p>\n<p>A panel headed by anti-corruption advocate and senior lawyer J. C. Weliamuna and Chandra Jayaratne found instances of gross abuse of power by former chairman Nishantha Wickramasinghe whose penchant for young air hostesses cost the debt-ridden airline even more problems.<\/p>\n<p>The BOI said they had found malpractices, related to re-fleeting of the aircraft as well.<\/p>\n<p>The BOI report, had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/weliamuna-report-recommends-criminal-prosecutions-of-shiranthis-brother-nishantha-w-airlanka-ceo\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">recommended criminal investigations into<\/span><\/a> the entire re-fleeting process and have noted instances where former chairmen Wickramasinghe, a brother-in-law of Mahinda Rajapaksa, should be prosecuted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":142684,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,6969,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-152781","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-popular-stories","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
