Note from the Author \u2013 In case you don\u2019t know the meaning of the word \u201cGang Bang\u201d, do not search on the internet. The definition of the word is given below.<\/p>\n

Gang Bang means;<\/p>\n

1. The successive rape of one person by a group of other people
\n2. An instance of Violence by involving members of a criminal gang.<\/p>\n

I believe that most of the adults in the country have watched the so called \u2018adults only movies\u201d screened in the shabby old theatres, at least once in their lifetime. These are not the explicit pornographic adult content which you can download from the internet, these are the Hindi, Tamil, Sinhala or the Malayalam movies rated \u2018A\u201d by the censor board, with hardly two or three \u2018scenes\u2019 which would typically contain an actress taking a bath with clothes covering her bosom to bottom and some smooching scenes which would remind the viewers a dog sniffing the ground in search of the piece of bone the canine had hidden deep inside sometimes back.<\/p>\n

\"Mahinda<\/a>Yet, this society or I would say a segment of society call this movies as erotic and go to these theatres which are infested with lice. The reason why these crowds go to watch the movie is not really for the erotic content ( which any one can watch in the internet itself without your part of the body being eaten by lice), It is for the thrill and the excitement the \u2018scene\u2019 would appear in any moment during the movie, which pulls the crowd to the theatres. The theatres will boost up the expectation of the viewer through putting up a poster which would contain the voluptuous legends like Sumana Gomez or Shakeela, so the viewer would have high expectation about the content of the movie. But in reality, most of the times there would not be any \u2018scene\u2019 like that, or the \u2018scenes\u2019 would not be up to the level of expectation of the viewer. And in fact, even the \u2018scenes\u2019 which were depicted on the poster would not be there in the movie.<\/p>\n

The present level of the believers of Yahapalanaya, and most of the people who have voted for Yahapalanaya is in a situation, not much different from those who went to the \u2018adults only\u2019 movie theatre. They voted for the Yahapalanaya to watch some \u2018scenes\u2019 to happen, but nothing has turned up. Yet some die-hard fans say that we should not lose hope since there is still time for the \u2018scenes\u2019 to happen.<\/p>\n

During the last presidential election, the common opposition has portrayed Mahinda Rajapaksa government as a den of corruption, nepotism and lawlessness and what they had portrayed was true. People did not have much trouble about the characteristics of Mahinda Rajapaksa. There was a consensus among the citizens of this country that he was evil, but the dilemma Majority Sinhalese people had was whether he was a necessary evil who would develop the country or an unnecessary evil. Most of them thought that Yahapalanaya can do the same level of development with no corruption and no nepotism<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Yahapalanaya started its innings with a no ball, the Central Bank Bond Scam<\/span><\/a> and the government was lucky since most of the Sri Lankans outside Colombo didn\u2019t understand the meaning of the word bond, and what it is used for. On the other hand government investigated its own scandal and gave a clean certificate to itself and the media who was trying to dig into that was called pro tyranny.<\/p>\n

The second blunder was taking the first baby Daham Sirisena<\/span><\/a> for day out to New York. It couldn\u2019t have been an issue if it were a Zoo or a children\u2019s park in New York, but unfortunately it was the UN \u00a0session and instead of showing the zoo animals to the first baby, President Sirisena was introducing his offspring to the world leaders. This was a shock to the public and the media as President Sirisena citied the Rajapaksa clan\u2019s nepotism as the key reason for his defection in November 2014. Yet the die- hard yahapalanaya fans believed that the Sri Lankan President was setting an example to other world leaders that how a \u2018daddy should care for his child\u2019.<\/p>\n

The gravest blunder the Yahapalanaya doing is how it prosecutes the tyrants and the corrupt bureaucrats of the previous regime. It had projected Mahinda Rajapaksa, during the election campaign as someone similar to Idi Amin of Uganda. Sirisena and the UNP stalwarts created a massive hype about the level of corruption in the mega projects, the thousands of white van abductions, killing of Lasantha Wickremathunge and unknown number of journalists, killing of parliamentarians Pararajasingham, Raviraj, Maheswaran , killing of activists Lalith & Kugan and the killing of innocent civilians in Weliweriya for demanding clean drinking water, needless to say about the thousands of civilians killed in the humanitarian operation.<\/p>\n

Yet the Yahapalanaya is investigating only the Avant Garde & the payment default to the ITN advertising. It seems everyone in the Yahapalanaya, including Champika Ranawaka has forgotten what they have told us during the election campaign about the misdeeds of the Rajapaksa clan.<\/p>\n

It is now obvious that Yahapalanaya also tries its best to fool the citizens of Sri Lanka. It has not delivered the promises it has promised. Yet it continues to promise that the promised promises would be delivered. But on another way, the government is quite clever in the way it confuses the people. One can say with confidence that this is not good governance, but he or she cannot say with the same level of confidence that this is bad governance. Such fluid is the level of government activities and the way each minister contradicts with the other, people are left in a constant state of dizziness. So they are left with a conclusion that this is neither good nor bad governance, this is just ugly governance.<\/p>\n

What has gone wrong with the Yahapalanaya?<\/p>\n

We have changed the government but We have not changed the system.<\/p>\n

President Sirisena and Prime Minster Wickremesinghe are busy cutting deals with the former tyrants so that their future as the rulers of this country would be secured. Now there is just a dummy opposition. The pro Rajapaksa faction is doing its best to pressurize the government and get ministerial portfolio. Despite the animosity they spilled on each other the Yahapalanaya politicos and the pro Rajapaksha politicos are in the same boat. Of course, they have spent millions to become parlimentarians (just to serve the country) and they need to recover that cost with some profits. So, despite the verbal abuses in the past, everyone needs to be in the government.<\/p>\n

What about the Sri Lankan Citizens?<\/p>\n

So far, Sri Lanka has withstood the \u2018banging\u2019 by this politicos since there was an opposition and it was done by a single political party at a time. For the first time in the history of the country, both major parties have joined together in the name of the unity government and have started to \u2018bang\u2019 the country at once.<\/p>\n

The country can be saved only by mounting the pressure on the government by the civil society and the free media. The one biggest advantage we have is the social media, but unlike the other countries, the Sri Lankans scarcely use it as a platform to stage their protest against the misdeeds of the state.<\/p>\n

I believe that the time has come to stop dreaming that the Yahapalanya will deliver its promises rather than cutting deals with the dissenting politicos. It\u2019s the time for the Sri Lankan Citizen to act through all the possible yet peaceful method to pressure the government to deliver that they have promised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
