Thirty five Ground Staff and seventeen Flight Attendants among other employees of SriLanka Airlines<\/span><\/a>\u00a0are to be terminated by the national carrier, on a treasury directive based on the findings of an investigation carried out into the irregular recruitment practices during the previous Rajapaksa regime, Colombo Telegraph reliably learns.<\/p>\n

Chairman Ajit Dias<\/p><\/div>\n

All trade \/ labour unions representing the employees of SriLankan Airlines were summoned for a meeting by the Chairman Ajit Dias last morning.<\/p>\n

However the Flight Attendants Union (FAU) was not represented despite having seventeen of its cadre said to be terminated.<\/p>\n

When Colombo Telegraph contacted the FAU Secretary Lanka Kamalgoda for a comment he said ” we have no knowledge of any such meeting as we were not informed. Please direct any questions to the Management of the airline”.<\/p>\n

However reliable sources from within the Human Resources Department of the airline confirmed that the relevant emails had been sent to all unions. This was further clarified by the I.T Department stating that the relevant emails were both sent and received by all unions.<\/p>\n

“Perhaps these are now the first casualties of the findings of the long overdue Weliamuna report<\/span><\/a> ” said an airline employee who furnished evidence to the investigations on condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
