{"id":158436,"date":"2016-03-01T15:24:41","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T09:54:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=158436"},"modified":"2016-03-01T15:24:48","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T09:54:48","slug":"fr-filed-against-yoshithas-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/fr-filed-against-yoshithas-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"FR Filed Against Yoshitha\u2019s Arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Fundamental Rights petition was filed today at the Supreme Court against the arrest and detention of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Yoshitha+Rajapaksa&amp;x=10&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Yoshitha Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a> and three others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/our-son-yoshitha\/yoshitha-8\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-156905\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-156905\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Yoshitha.jpg\" alt=\"Yoshitha\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Yoshitha.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Yoshitha-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The petition claimed that the arrest had no basis, and the fundamental rights of Rajapaksa and three others have been violated. The respondents were; Inspector General of Police and officers of the Financial Criminal Investigation Department.<\/p>\n<p>Yoshitha, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and four others including Nishantha Ranatunga and Rohan Welivita are in remand for allegedly committing money laundering at the Carlton Sports Network (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=CSN&amp;x=11&amp;y=3\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CSN<\/span><\/a>), where Yoshitha reportedly was the Chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Rajapaksa, who is a Navy Lieutenant has also been suspended by the Sri Lanka Navy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":156905,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-158436","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
