{"id":159144,"date":"2016-03-13T02:09:20","date_gmt":"2016-03-12T20:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=159144"},"modified":"2016-03-13T02:09:20","modified_gmt":"2016-03-12T20:39:20","slug":"friends-of-ranawakas-accident-victim-demand-justice-from-sirisena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/friends-of-ranawakas-accident-victim-demand-justice-from-sirisena\/","title":{"rendered":"Friends Of Ranawaka&#8217;s Accident Victim Demand Justice From Sirisena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The family and friends of Sandeep Gunawardena, the victim who was allegedly knocked down by Megapolis and Western Development Minister Champika Ranawaka has called on President Maithripala Sirisena seeking justice for their friend.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_41208\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/kudankulam-comments-taken-out-of-context-says-sri-lankan-minister\/champika-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41208\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41208\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-41208\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Champika-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Minister Champika Ranawaka\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Champika-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Champika-1.jpeg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-41208\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minister Champika Ranawaka<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopetition.com\/petitions\/justice-for-sandeep.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In a petition<\/span><\/a>, the friends and family have requested Sirisena to intervene and ensure that the law of the nation applies to Ranawaka and ensure justice is meted out to the victim, who is still receiving treatment in the ICU following the accident in Rajagiriya.<\/p>\n<p>They have also requested the victim be sent overseas for medical treatment, as there is no improvement in his health situation following the accident.<\/p>\n<p>Even though on March 9, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered the police to record a statement from the Minister, the police is yet to record his statement. The court order was issued following a motion filed by the aggrieved party.
