{"id":159446,"date":"2016-03-20T01:28:13","date_gmt":"2016-03-19T19:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=159446"},"modified":"2016-03-25T12:18:53","modified_gmt":"2016-03-25T06:48:53","slug":"i-am-not-scared-of-chest-beaters-maithripala-sirisena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/i-am-not-scared-of-chest-beaters-maithripala-sirisena\/","title":{"rendered":"I Am Not Scared Of Chest Beaters: Maithripala Sirisena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Maithripala+Sirisena&amp;x=12&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Maithripala Sirisena<\/span><\/a> has declared that he is not scared of chest beaters, and no matter who tries to conspire to topple the government, no one can change the government till the next parliamentary elections in 5 years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/president-sirisena-has-acted-proactively\/maithripala-30\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-149081\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-149081\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Maithripala3-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"Maithripala\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Maithripala3-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Maithripala3.jpg 639w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Addressing the 19th National Convention of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress in Ampara on Saturday, Sirisena said, \u201cRecently someone told a rally in Colombo to let him take over the government so he can rule the country again. He was beating his chest while saying this. We saw how this person ruled the country; even I was part of his government at one point. But, I am not scared of anyone who beats their chest, that was why I left and formed my own government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sirisena, who was the chief guest at the event, also said that those who were defeated by the masses will remain defeated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday there is freedom in the country to hold protest marches, rallies and meetings, and none of the leaders who organize these events have to worry about being abducted by white vans, or their homes been stoned.
