{"id":160217,"date":"2016-04-04T12:55:50","date_gmt":"2016-04-04T07:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=160217"},"modified":"2016-04-04T12:55:50","modified_gmt":"2016-04-04T07:25:50","slug":"cid-to-question-wimal-dinesh-over-suicide-jacket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/cid-to-question-wimal-dinesh-over-suicide-jacket\/","title":{"rendered":"CID To Question Wimal, Dinesh Over Suicide Jacket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is to question Parliamentarians Dinesh Gunawardena and Wimal Weerawansa over the recent discovery of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=suicide+jacket&amp;x=10&amp;y=3\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">suicide jacket<\/span><\/a> along with other explosives in Chavakachcheri.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/cid-to-question-wimal-dinesh-over-suicide-jacket\/vasu-dinesh-wimal-udaya-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-160219\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-160219\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Vasu-Dinesh-Wimal-Udaya.jpg\" alt=\"Vasu-Dinesh-Wimal-Udaya\" width=\"451\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Vasu-Dinesh-Wimal-Udaya.jpg 451w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Vasu-Dinesh-Wimal-Udaya-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The decision comes after the CID grilled former minister G. L. Periris for over three hours over his statement that the suicide jacket was to be transported to Wellawatte.<\/p>\n<p>The CID will question Gunawardena and Weerawansa to ascertain whether they have similar information as disclosed by Peiris, and after Peiris told the CID that it was Gunawardena and Weerawansa who had in fact informed him that the suicide jacket was to be transported to Wellawatte.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, initial investigations have found that the suicide jacket was manufactured in 2008.
