A. Wijewardena also leveling allegations of the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/monetary-board-being-caught-in-the-devils-alternative\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in a column<\/span><\/a> that was published recently. <\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_140897\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/mahendran-under-fire\/arjuna-mahendran\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-140897\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-140897\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-140897\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Arjuna-Mahendran-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"The Central Bank Governor - Arjuna Mahendran\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Arjuna-Mahendran-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Arjuna-Mahendran.jpg 535w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-140897\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Central Bank Governor &#8211; Arjuna Mahendran<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"_5yl5\">Meanwhile, in a letter addressed to the Central Bank Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Arjuna+Mahendran&amp;x=13&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Arjuna Mahendran<\/span><\/a>, the Anti-Corruption Front has demanded for an explanation over the issuance of treasury bonds to the tune of Rs. 80 billion on March 29, 2016, even though the Central Bank originally stated that treasury bonds will be issued only to the tune of Rs. 40 billion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5yl5\">The front noted that the manner in which this had taken place was \u2018extremely\u00a0suspicious\u2019 even though the Central Bank had claimed that they had to double the issuing of the bonds due to the increased demands for the treasury bonds. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5yl5\">The Front also expressed concern over the failure by the Central Bank to reveal details of the primary dealers who had purchased the bonds, while emphasizing upon the need for an institution such as the Central Bank to be more transparent in all its activities and transactions.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":140897,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2186,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-160428","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-featured-news","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
