An attorney at law today filed a fundamental rights petition against Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Nazeer Ahamed<\/span><\/a> for acting in a disgraceful manner to a Navy Officer in May.<\/p>\n

The attorney at law, P. Liyanaarachchi who filed the fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court accused Ahamed of violating fundamental rights by acting in a dishonorable manner towards the navy officer at a school event in Sampur last month.<\/p>\n

Ahamed made headlines last month following his outburst against the navy officer, who was a compere at an event at the Sampur<\/span><\/a> Maha Vidyalaya in May. Ahamed admonished the officer telling him to \u2018get out, you idiot,\u2019 after the officer failed to acknowledge him at the event, and had also reportedly blocked him from walking up the stage.<\/p>\n

The incident resulted in the Army, Navy and Air Force taking a decision to boycott all events attended by Nazeer, while an order was also issued to him through the Defence Ministry informing him not to visit military camps in the East. Subsequently, the ban was lifted by the ministry, and in a goodwill gesture, Nazeer was welcome by security forces at an army camp subsequently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
