{"id":163862,"date":"2016-06-14T15:00:33","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T09:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=163862"},"modified":"2016-06-14T15:00:33","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T09:30:33","slug":"rada-fraud-case-court-allows-tiran-to-travel-overseas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/rada-fraud-case-court-allows-tiran-to-travel-overseas\/","title":{"rendered":"RADA Fraud Case: Court Allows Tiran To Travel Overseas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Colombo High Court has granted permission for former Parliamentarian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Tiran+Alles&amp;x=9&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tiran Alles<\/span><\/a> to travel to Singapore for medical treatment, after his passport was impounded last year in connection to a financial fraud investigation at the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5685\" style=\"width: 213px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/wikileaks-tiran-alles-filmed-ltte-rajapaksa-pre-election-deal\/tiran-colombotelegraph\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5685\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5685\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5685\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tiran-colombotelegraph.jpg\" alt=\"Tiran\" width=\"203\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5685\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tiran<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Colombo High Court Judge A.R. Heiyanthuduwa granted permission to Alles to travel to Singapore for two weeks within the next three months.<\/p>\n<p>Permission was granted after the judge considered a report by JMO Ajith Tennakoon. Alles who is currently out on bail over the RADA case, was imposed an additional cash bail of Rs. 100,000 with one surety of Rs. 500,000.<\/p>\n<p>n April last year, Alles, was barred from leaving the country, following a case against him where RADA, chaired by him and established to reconstruct houses for tsunami victims was charged with misappropriating state funds. Along with Alles, five other suspects were also barred from leaving the country. RADA is reported to have obtained Rs. 645 million from the Treasury to build houses, but no houses had been constructed.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Police confirmed that the funds collected by the company were credited to Oomps textiles Ltd. \u2013 another fake company formed by three individuals identified as Shanthi Kumar, Gajan Kumar and their mother Anandi Shanthi Kumar. The Court had been informed today that through this company and two other bogus companies, a total of Rs. 125 million has been misappropriated by the Company. It was also mentioned that the State funds paid to Oomps Textiles Ltd. had been taken over by Alles and former LTTE-er <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Emil+Kanthan&amp;x=9&amp;y=8\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Emil Kanthan<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":5685,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-163862","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
