{"id":163929,"date":"2016-06-16T13:15:11","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T07:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=163929"},"modified":"2016-06-17T01:21:55","modified_gmt":"2016-06-16T19:51:55","slug":"rajagiriya-accident-ranawaka-may-get-off-scot-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/rajagiriya-accident-ranawaka-may-get-off-scot-free\/","title":{"rendered":"Rajagiriya Accident: Ranawaka May Get Off Scot Free"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welikada Police has informed the Colombo Additional Magistrate that the CCTV footage on the Rajagiriya accident which allegedly involved Megapolis and Western Development Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Champika+Ranawaka&amp;x=10&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Champika Ranawaka<\/span><\/a> does not show the minister in the area at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/champika-ranawakas-moves\/champika-ranawaka-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-150595\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-150595\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Champika-Ranawaka-.jpg\" alt=\"Champika Ranawaka\" width=\"639\" height=\"485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Champika-Ranawaka-.jpg 639w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Champika-Ranawaka--300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px\" \/><\/a>The police made the statement based on the report sent to them by the Moratuwa University. Earlier the police said that the CCTV camera footage belonging to the residents in the area had been deleted.<\/p>\n<p>Police also informed that Court that they were unable to record a statement from the victim, as he was not in a very stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>Eyewitnesses alleged that Ranawaka was involved in a hit and run accident in Rajagiriya, which left one person critically injured.
