{"id":164813,"date":"2016-07-05T16:24:20","date_gmt":"2016-07-05T10:54:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=164813"},"modified":"2016-07-05T16:24:20","modified_gmt":"2016-07-05T10:54:20","slug":"captain-of-avant-garde-vessel-further-remanded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/captain-of-avant-garde-vessel-further-remanded\/","title":{"rendered":"Captain Of Avant-Garde Vessel Further Remanded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ukranian national and captain of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Avant+Garde&amp;x=10&amp;y=6\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Avant Garde<\/span><\/a> Vessel, Gennady Gavrilov, was further remanded by the Galle Magistrate till July 18.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_153728\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/rajitha-arjuna-and-champika-request-igp-to-investigate-avant-garde-boss-claims\/nissanka-senadhipathi\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-153728\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-153728\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-153728\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nissanka-Senadhipathi-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Avant Garde\u2019s boss -Nissanka Senadhipathi\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nissanka-Senadhipathi-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nissanka-Senadhipathi-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-153728\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Avant Garde\u2019s boss -Nissanka Senadhipathi<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Gavrilov, was arrested by the CID on June 23, in connection to an ongoing investigation of the vessel belonging to the controversial Avant-Garde company, for allegedly illegally importing firearms to Sri Lanka and illegally possessing firearms and explosives.<\/p>\n<p>The CID is currently conducting further investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Avant Garde, a private security company which struck a deal in 2012 with former defense secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Gotabaya+Rajapaksa&amp;x=9&amp;y=4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gotabaya Rajapaksa<\/span><\/a> to provide maritime security made headlines last year when authorities seized a floating armory belonging to them. Although the vessel was authorized to carry only 100 guns and 60,000 rounds of ammunition, it had as many as 816 guns and over 200,000 rounds of ammunition in that particular vessel, resulting in Avant Garde\u2019s \u201cillegal\u201d operation raising a security alarm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":153728,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-164813","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
