L. R. Ranaweera to verify if he too played a part in covering up the murder of ruggerite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Wasim+Thajudeen&amp;x=8&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wasim Thajudeen<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_149018\" style=\"width: 135px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/thajudeen-not-the-first-not-the-last\/wasim-thajudeen-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-149018\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-149018\" class=\"size-full wp-image-149018\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen1.jpg\" alt=\"Wasim Thajudeen\" width=\"125\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-149018\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wasim Thajudeen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The CID has already recorded a statement from SSP Ranaweera over his possible involvement in the murder cover up. It is learnt that SSP Ranaweera had told the CID in his statement that the Colombo Crimes Division, for which he was a Director at that time, was ordered by former DIG Anura Senanayake not to carry out an investigation into Thajudeen&#8217;s \u2018accident\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The CID is also in the process of obtaining telephone records of Ranaweera\u2019s conversations soon after Thajudeen\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n<p>Former Senior DIG <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Anura+Senanayake&amp;x=9&amp;y=8\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Anura Senanayake<\/span><\/a> and former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Champika Perera are currently in remand for allegedly concealing evidence in relation to the murder of Thajudeen.<\/p>\n<p>In May this year, Perera in a confession to the Colombo Additional Magistrate shared all information he knew on the murder while also insisting that he was only carrying out orders issued to him by senior police officers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":149018,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-164948","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
