{"id":165879,"date":"2016-07-29T12:57:27","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T07:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=165879"},"modified":"2016-07-29T12:57:28","modified_gmt":"2016-07-29T07:27:28","slug":"kegalle-magistrate-refuses-restraining-order-against-pada-yatra-as-sagala-terms-the-protest-a-gimmick-by-crooks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/kegalle-magistrate-refuses-restraining-order-against-pada-yatra-as-sagala-terms-the-protest-a-gimmick-by-crooks\/","title":{"rendered":"Kegalle Magistrate Refuses Restraining Order Against P\u0101da Y\u0101tr\u0101, As Sagala Terms The Protest \u2018A Gimmick By Crooks\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kegalle Magistrate has refused to grant a restraining order against the anti-government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Pada+Yatra&amp;x=9&amp;y=9\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pada Yatra<\/span><\/a>, despite the police citing that the protest march was creating various forms of public disturbances.<\/p>\n<p>Kegalle police yesterday made a request for a restraining order against the anti-government protestors entering the Kegalle Town on grounds that the walk was creating severe traffic congestion among other issues, however, the Kegalle Magistrate refused to issue the restraining order.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/kegalle-magistrate-refuses-restraining-order-against-pada-yatra-as-sagala-terms-the-protest-a-gimmick-by-crooks\/pada-yathra\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-165880\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-165880\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Pada-yathra.jpg\" alt=\"Pada yathra\" width=\"639\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Pada-yathra.jpg 639w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Pada-yathra-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate however informed the police that the protest march should only be allowed on one lane of the road, and in the event there was any clash, the police had the authority to immediately halt the march.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, both the Kandy Magistrate and the Mawanella Magistrate issued restraining orders against the march, informing the organizers not to use Kandy town to commence the walk, or enter the Mawanella town.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Law and Order Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Sagala+Ratnayaka&amp;x=16&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sagala Ratnayaka<\/span><\/a> said that the Pada Yatra was a political gimmick by a bunch of crooks.
