{"id":166949,"date":"2016-08-29T17:45:20","date_gmt":"2016-08-29T12:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=166949"},"modified":"2016-08-29T17:45:20","modified_gmt":"2016-08-29T12:15:20","slug":"17-year-old-who-hacked-sirisenas-official-website-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/17-year-old-who-hacked-sirisenas-official-website-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"17 Year Old Who Hacked Sirisena\u2019s Official Website Arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 17 year old boy from Kadugannawa was arrested today on charges that he had hacked into President Maithripala Sirisena\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Maithripala2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-147450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Maithripala2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Maithripala\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Maithripala2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Maithripala2-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Last week, Sirisena\u2019s official website http:\/\/www.president.gov.lk\/ came under cyber attack by a group who called themselves the &#8216;Sri Lankan Youth&#8217;. In a message which was published on the website in Sinhala, the hackers requested Sirisena to reconsider the decision to hold the GCE Advanced Level Examination in April as it coincides with the Sinhala and Hindu New Year.<\/p>\n<p>They had also expressed their displeasure over the conduct of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and had urged Sirisena to look into the problems faced by the university students. They had also added that if Sirisena was not capable of ruling the country, then he should call for a Presidential Election.<\/p>\n<p>The website was hacked two days in a row, on Thursday and Friday.
