{"id":167718,"date":"2016-09-15T17:21:36","date_gmt":"2016-09-15T11:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=167718"},"modified":"2016-09-15T17:21:36","modified_gmt":"2016-09-15T11:51:36","slug":"ex-jmos-anticipatory-bail-application-rejected-over-thajudeens-missing-body-parts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/ex-jmos-anticipatory-bail-application-rejected-over-thajudeens-missing-body-parts\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-JMO\u2019s Anticipatory Bail Application Rejected Over Thajudeen\u2019s Missing Body Parts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Colombo Additional Magistrate today rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by ex-Judicial Medical Officer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Ananda+Samarasekera&amp;x=13&amp;y=7\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ananda Samarasekera<\/span><\/a> over the missing body parts of ruggerite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Wasim+Thajudeen&amp;x=10&amp;y=6\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wasim Thajudeen<\/span><\/a>, who was murdered.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-149019\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen2.jpg\" alt=\"Wasim Thajudeen\" width=\"500\" height=\"588\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen2-255x300.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In August, Samarasekera submitted an anticipatory bail application seeking an order preventing his arrest in connection to the missing body parts of Thajudeen. However, when the case was taken up today, the Colombo Additional Magistrate Dulani Amarasinghe rejected the application.<\/p>\n<p>In August, Health Ministry Secretary Anura Jayawickrema in a report submitted to the Colombo Additional Magistrate said that ex-JMO was responsible for the missing body parts of Thajudeen\u2019s body. Jayawickrema said that Samarasekera had acted in an irresponsible manner when conducting the first postmortem, in which Samarasekera ruled Thajudeen\u2019s death was due to an accident.
