{"id":168500,"date":"2016-10-03T20:41:46","date_gmt":"2016-10-03T15:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=168500"},"modified":"2016-10-03T20:41:46","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T15:11:46","slug":"thajudeen-murder-cid-confiscates-26-body-parts-from-saitm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/thajudeen-murder-cid-confiscates-26-body-parts-from-saitm\/","title":{"rendered":"Thajudeen Murder: CID Confiscates 26 Body Parts From SAITM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CID has confiscated 26 human body parts from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=SAITM&amp;x=5&amp;y=4\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SAITM<\/span><\/a> laboratory in Malabe during a search operation carried out this evening to locate the missing body parts of murdered ruggerite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Wasim+Thajudeen&amp;x=15&amp;y=5\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wasim Thajudeen<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_148563\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-148563\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-148563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Wasim Thajudeen\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen-50x50.jpg 50w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Wasim-Thajudeen.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-148563\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wasim Thajudeen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The CID with the assistance of forensic experts commenced a search operation for the body parts at SAITM this afternoon after the Colombo Additional Magistrate issued a search warrant allowing the CID to search for the body parts at the institute.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, SAITM Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/saitm-says-they-dont-have-wasim-thajudeens-skeletal-remains\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dr. Neville Fernando said<\/span><\/a> that SAITM does not possess any skeletal remains of the late ruggerite. In a statement issued in September, Fernando said, \u201cSAITM records do not reveal that any specimen of the late Mr. Wasim Thajudeen was sent to the institution. SAITM states no authority has visited the institution or inspected any specimens that are in its custody, to date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the CID, ex-JMO Ananda Samarasekera had sent some of Thajudeen\u2019s skeletal remains to SAITM in Malabe, although he initially claimed that he had given the body parts to two minor workers to store in a freezer. A claim the minor workers denied. Samarasekera currently serves as the Professor and Head of Department of Forensic Medicine at SAITM.
