Since then, a special police unit has been deployed to Jaffna to investigate the incident on the orders of the President and the police officers who had allegedly involved in the incident has been taken into custody'&#8221; the TNA said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sampanthan who also spoke to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the incident, has also requested the IGP to conduct an impartial investigation and take immediate action.\u00a0The TNA expresses its deep regret about this incident and would like to convey its condolences to the families, friends, and the loved ones of those deceased.&#8221; the TNA said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Government Information Department said\u00a0&#8220;The CID has taken over the investigation into the death of the two Jaffna University students at Kankesanthurai in Jaffna while they were riding a motorbike.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Five policemen were yesterday arrested in connection with the death of two Jaffna University students,\u00a0the statement said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":161042,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2186,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-169310","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-featured-news","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
