The Magistrate however imposed a travel ban on Wijemuni.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Vijitha-Rohana-Wijemuni-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-173326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Vijitha-Rohana-Wijemuni--150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Vijitha-Rohana-Wijemuni--150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Vijitha-Rohana-Wijemuni--50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wijemuni who shot to limelight in 1987 for attacking Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi with a rifle butt during his visit to Sri Lanka, recently predicted the death of President Maithripala Sirisena in January 2017. In December, Wijemuni said that Sirisena will die by January 26 this year.<\/p>\n<p>Following the prediction, Nimal Bopage, secretary to the ministry of media and Parliamentary affairs lodged a complaint with the police citing that there could be a plot to assassinate Sirisena.<\/p>\n<p>Wijemuni has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on charges that he made false predictions and for misleading the public.
