{"id":174545,"date":"2017-03-03T16:08:17","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T10:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=174545"},"modified":"2017-03-03T16:08:17","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T10:38:17","slug":"court-wants-keith-noyahr-at-identification-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/court-wants-keith-noyahr-at-identification-parade\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Wants Keith Noyahr At Identification Parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mount Lavinia Magistrate has ordered senior journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?s=Keith+Noyahr&amp;x=13&amp;y=3\">Keith Noyahr<\/a> to be present in Court for the identification parade of the suspects, who abducted him in 2008, when he was the Deputy Editor of The Nation Newspaper.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2467\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/keith-colombotelegraph.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2467\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/keith-colombotelegraph-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/keith-colombotelegraph-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/keith-colombotelegraph-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2467\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Keith<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The five suspects who were arrested and remanded last month, was ordered to be further remanded till March 16, 2017 today by the Magistrate when the case was taken up.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate had informed that Noyahr\u2019s presence was important to identify the suspects. Noyahr, along with his family left the country soon after the abduction incident and has not returned since.<\/p>\n<p>Five army officers, including a Major who have been remanded for allegedly abducting and assaulting Noyahr in 2008, have also been suspended by the Army.<\/p>\n<p>Noyahr was abducted in May 2008 near his residence and was severely beaten but was released the next day. The incident happened just days after Noyahr wrote an article critical of Sarath Fonseka in his weekly military column published in The Nation.
