Following Colombo Telegraph’s revelation on the current state of affairs<\/a> at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) launched an investigation, today, into a derogatory Facebook profile damaging the reputation of the state-run newspaper company.<\/p>\n

The management of the company, lodging a complaint with the CID this morning, said the Facebook profile had caused a financial damage to the company’s business operations, by tarnishing its reputation and spreading false news about the company. In addition, it has also directed personal insults at the members of the Lake House senior management and its staff members.<\/p>\n

CERT, an expert group that handles computer security incidents in Sri Lanka, will provide technical assistance to the CID team handling the investigation.<\/p>\n

Colombo Telegraph exclusively reported<\/a> that a derogatory Facebook page, allegedly run by a Director of the company, has created a heated situation among the members of the company\u2019s senior management. Evidence has been found to suspect that a member of the Director board had written derogatory posts for the Facebook page by the name of \u2018Lake House aaraksha karanno\u2019.<\/p>\n

This comes in the wake of the government’s move to change the management of the Lake House. It has been revealed that a new Chairman and a new board of directors would be appointed from next month, to streamline the operations of the company.<\/p>\n

Current Chairman Kavan Ratnayaka has reportedly informed the President and the Prime Minister that he does not wish to continue in his position and he will fully support the transition. Dr. Emerick Fernando, Sirimevan Dias, Saman Wagaarachchi and Lakshman Hewapanna are the current members of the Lake House Director Board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
