Police has deployed several units to arrest General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena<\/a> (BBS) Galagoda Atte Gnanasara<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the police there are several charges levelled against the monk, including inciting religious disharmony.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a court order has also been issued against Gnanasara leaving the country.<\/p>\n

The development also comes amidst reports that Gnanasara has gone into hiding and is currently housed in a safe house belonging to a senior minister in the coalition government.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, BBS\u2019s Dilanthe Withanage said that there was a conspiracy to assassinate Gnanasara, and all the recent attacks that had taken place against Muslim owned establishments and mosques in the country were part of this larger conspiracy initiated by extremists elements which were supported internationally, as well as by sections of the government and the opposition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
