Gotabaya Rajapaksa<\/a>, widely tipped to run for President in 2020, has opted for a ‘learned look’ for the first time in a video posted on Facebook.<\/p>\n

Rajapaksa is featured delivering a New Year message against the background of a book case and under his signature ‘Eliya (Light)’ logo.<\/p>\n

In his message, Rajapaksa contended that the past three years were marked by efforts to deliver through constitutional reform what the terrorists failed to achieve through 30 years of fighting.<\/p>\n

He further said that the ‘Eliya’ organization was set up to educate the people about the dangers of constitutional reform initiatives and expressed the hope that the year 2018 would be where such efforts would be defeated.
