The cabinet re-shuffle is a done deal and although certain UNP backbenchers had objected to some of the appointments it is unlikely that party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will take up the issue with President Sirisena, sources close to the Prime Minister told Colombo Telegraph.<\/p>\n

Immediately after the deputy and state ministers were sworn in, it was reported that Wickremesinghe would convey to the President the misgivings of a group of UNP backbenchers.<\/p>\n

It was reported that the aggrieved had been especially critical of Syed Ali Zahir Moulana’s appointment as the Deputy Minister of National Integration Reconciliation and Official Languages.<\/p>\n

‘It’s all done and the only thing to discuss is the assignment of subjects and institutions to ministries, which will happen shortly,’ sources added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
