{"id":191203,"date":"2018-06-09T14:22:17","date_gmt":"2018-06-09T08:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/?p=191203"},"modified":"2018-06-10T00:04:19","modified_gmt":"2018-06-09T18:34:19","slug":"sujeewa-senasinghe-wants-to-donate-ill-gotten-gains-to-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/sujeewa-senasinghe-wants-to-donate-ill-gotten-gains-to-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Sujeewa Senasinghe Wants To Donate \u2018Ill-Gotten Gains\u2019 To Charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe who stands <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/index.php\/perpetual-treasuries-paid-millions-to-arjuna-mahendran-and-sujeewa-senasinghe\/\">accused of receiving Rs 3 million<\/a> from W M Mendis &amp; Company, an affiliate of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd (PTL) has acknowledged that he did in fact receive this amount when he pledged to donate an equal amount to a charity.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_152928\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Sujeewa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-152928\" class=\"size-full wp-image-152928\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colombotelegraph.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Sujeewa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-152928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Senasinghe<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Senasinghe however imposed the caveat, \u2018if the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya or a Chief Prelate asked him to do so.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In a bid to control the damage to his reputation caused by his campaign team accepting money from PTL, which is at the heart of the Central Bank bond issue scam, Senasinghe addressed the media, claiming he had no knowledge of such a donation.<\/p>\n<p>PLT is said to have made billions in the said bond scam.<\/p>\n<p>Senasinghe said in his defense that at the time the money was received \u2018there was no information that Mendis &amp; Company was attached to PTL\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":185050,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2186,1,2375],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-191203","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-colombotelegraph","category-featured-news","category-news","category-stories"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.3 -
